Every day is Cinco de Mayo and it's not just a Mexican celebration, Latinos and us Gringos alike, celebrate this cultural occasion all across the country with parades, parties, dancing, great food and music, as we delight in and appreciate the rich Mexican culture, heritage, and history this day represents. Cinco de Mayo, The Fifth of May, celebrates the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. The big win had major consequences for the United States, which at the time, was embroiled in the Civil War. Greatly encouraged by Cinco de Mayo, Mexicans in California joined the Union in hopes of another win. Today, all cultures celebrate the Latino culture and the power of what can happen when people unite.
