Episode 3: Freelancing and Side Hustles

Hello! Welcome to Rasterized, a podcast about life and design with Sydney and Eric.
While having much experience with print and digital design, the duo have decided to try their hand at working with the podcast medium and discuss a range of topics. Those include, but are not limited to, design, technology, life as a young professional in a creative field, and occasional SEO optimization.

In this episode we talk about:

— Good things come to those who hustle, including experience, portfolio diversification, connections, and more. Do you have skills (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsiiIa6bs9I) and the desire to use them for some moolah (or karma) on the side? You may want to consider freelancing. We talk tips and things to consider.
— Look at freelancing on a larger scale, especially in light of watching Hank Green’s video “Why You Haven’t Started a Business” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_NrLQnmCBw).
— Knowing how to meet technological needs of employers. Sometimes you gotta connect the dots for someone else to see a need that you, the savvy freelancer that you are, can fulfill.
— Attack of the apps. Brief ideas on to work with apps like Pokemon Go, Snapchat, and Instagram that directly affect one’s work life.
— Derelict 90s tech a la the tune of a dial-up screech.
— UI and Iconography.
— Optimized times for creative work

— Anonymous communication sites. There’s a lot to consider like “real” constructive feedback (is it?), hate mail, and general creepiness on anonymous platforms. We share our thoughts and bad pronunciations on the matter.

— Dishing up this podcast with rice. We’re hoping it’s a 10/10.
— Our super rad typeface of the week
