I KNEW YOU’D COME BACK FOR MORE, LOL. On this episode of the podcast we have Sessle Sarpy joining us all the way from New York City. (Idk bout y’all, but I am seeing a trend here, lots of NYC guests…) Sessle Sarpy is the Creator/Founder of The Afro Latin Diaspora. He is a 25 year old artist, model, and now activist born and raised in Dallas, Texas to an Afro Cuban mother and bi-racial Creole father of Sicilian, Spaniard and African decent. He turned to activism when he faced hardships and discrimination in the modeling industry based on his skin color and identity. He built his organization 2 years ago through Instagram, which was dedicated to raise awareness on Afro Latinos, while educating and rebuilding Self Love targeting specifically young black women. His page went viral many times due to his unapologetic ways in fighting against anti-blackness in Latin America, while also making it fun and educational, which lead to the growth of his team and organization. With his platform he hopes to affect change in redefining how the world is exposed to the presence of blackness in Latin America. Do yourself a favor and go follow the IG page @theafrolatindiaspora for more. Its a team of 3 Afro-Latinx educators and creatives out here helping everyone come to accept this identity for themselves and for those around them. SEGMENTS OF THE PODCAST: Dimelo Daniel: (Pop culture, current events, and news) Do Latino men play a role in the #MeToo Movement? Source: http://llero.net/do-latino-men-have-a-role-in-the-metoo-movement/ (Cardi B turned herself into the NYPD because of a bar fight) Source: http://www.tmz.com/2018/10/01/cardi-b-turning-herself-in-police-cops-strip-club-fight-offset/ The Stat Chat: (From the infamous #PollTuesday) It Goes Down In the DMs: As millennials, DMs can mean a lot to some people… Inspiration for the segment came from season 1 episode 9. Feel free to tune in to that episode as well. DO NOT FORGET TO RATE, REVIEW, AND SUBSCRIBEEEEEE TO THE PODCAST. TELL YOUR FRIEND TO TELL THEIR COOL AUNTIE AND UNCLES.
