EP 8 - Director (Nathaniel Vidal)
Manage episode 224641593 series 2474246
Nathaniel Vidal co-directed a short documentary, Maxxx, with Stevie Rappa. The documentary is about a drag king who explores what it means to literally perform masculinity in a way that feels true to himself.
Nathaniel discusses his own experience of masculinity growing up the oldest of nine children (8 boys and 1 girl). He tells us how he found a space in college where he felt comfortable to express his masculinity in a way that felt genuine to him. Then he explains how this experience drew him to Maxxx, and the bold choices he makes in his portrayal of manliness.
I would recommend everyone watch the film here https://vimeo.com/280729103 before they listen to the episode.
