BANG! @southernvangard #radio presents the Knowledge The Pirate interview session! Ahoy Vangardians! Look, we’re gonna cut straight to it - this is easily a Top 5 - maybe Top 3 - interview session. If the stories aren’t enough, the passion and energy that come alongside them will put you over the top. Frankly, we don’t even know where to start when it comes to explaining what you’ll find in this interview, but we’ll try. Knowledge’s reputation in this here rap game precedes him, and while many know him as a rhyme collaborator and confidant of Roc Marciano, many don’t know he earned his stripes in the early 90’s when Will Smith’s then manager, Charlie Mack, discovered him in a battle and immediately started shopping him to the industry elite. Knowledge breaks down how he ended up signing with none other than Teddy Riley, his early working relationship with a young Pharrell & Chad Hugo - yeah, that’s right, The Neptunes - why his deal with Interscope went south and the reason behind his break from the game until 2010 or so. We hear the incredible story of how he & Roc Marci virtually resurrected the underground, damn near created an entirely new sub-genre of hip-hop and discuss unmeasurable amount of influence they’ve had on today’s sound. If that wasn’t enough, Knowledge is about to drop his sophomore LP, “Black Cesar” on March 18, not even a year from the date of his masterpiece debut LP “Flintlock”. This album isn’t called “Black Cesar” for nothing - wait until you hear the who, what, why, where and when behind the album title. Alright, that’s enough - just hit play, pre-order “Black Cesar” today and never forget that it’s ALWAYS that #SmithsonianGrade #TwiceAWeek #WeAreTheGard // southernvangard.com // @southernvangard on #applepodcasts #stitcherradio #soundcloud #mixcloud #youtube // #hiphop #rap #undergroundhiphop #boombap #DJ #mix #interview #podcast #ATL #WORLDWIDE #RIPCOMBATJACK Recorded live March 10, 2018 @ Dirty Blanket Studios, Marietta, GA southernvangard.com @southernvangard on #applepodcasts #stitcherradio #soundcloud #mixcloud #youtube #SmithsonianGrade #TwiceAWeek #WeAreTheGard twitter/IG: @jondoeatl @southernvangard @cappuccinomeeks
