Scott Mattraw left Northern New York for a career in film, just as the industry was on the cusp of a boom, and he quickly boomed to stardom himself. Perhaps his most famous role today is as Bashful in "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," but he was in more than 600 other films, according to some reports.
His story doesn't start there, though. Mr. Mattraw was a well-known local theater actor in Watertown, a former manager of the Avon theater and opened a successful, if short-lived, restaurant on Public Square in Watertown.
Like another well-known actor and native to the region (Viggo Mortensen), Mr. Mattraw stayed connected to the area, and the local newspaper often carried news of his success in Hollywood to the delight of readers.
