Radio Guatapurí ha sido líder y motor cívico del progreso de Valledupar, del Cesar y la región. Esta empresa se ha caracterizado por el rescate y defensa de las costumbres y los valores cívicos, culturales, económicos y folclóricos de la región. Desde 1967 la emisora ha realizado la cobertura del Festival de la Leyenda Vallenata año tras año.
