Haven't posted here in quite some time. I have a blog over at http://rare80sdownloads.blogspot.com that I've been mostly posting to. That, along with my own songwriting/recording has kept me pretty busy. Anyway, here's a new post finally. Not much known about this group. They must've been only a regional band. Anyway, enjoy!…
This is some great Beatle styled psychedelic/pop/rock music from The Pillbugs. What's so amazing, is that these intricate pop/rock tunes were recorded on analog 16 track reel to reel, using vintage equipment, and REAL instruments! (I'm pretty sure NO pro tools used on THIS project!) Sit back and enjoy these songs I picked from the 2 cd release "Buzz For Aldrin". 01- Walking Along An Edge Of Sky 02- She's In Style 03- King Of Zorg http://www.thepillbugs.com http://www.proverus.com (to purchase Pillbugs music. Tell them Joe sent you!)…
Here's a sampling of Utopia bassist/vocalist from his solo acoustic tour. The voice of many of Utopia's best known songs, and as always, definitely Beatles influenced! The songs are: 01- Set Me Free 02- Are You Happy? 03- Libertine 04- One World http://www.kasimsulton.com http://www.kasiminfo.com
The Red Button is made up of Los Angeles-based singer-songwriters Seth Swirsky and Mike Ruekberg. The two met in 2004, when Seth was recording his first solo album, Instant Pleasure (The album went on to win Best Pop Album at the 2005 Los Angeles Music Awards) So, they got together and started writing and recording songs. Their goal was to write melodies and lyrics that were timeless but fresh -- songs that were catchy but substantial. They found that Swirsky's tuneful optimism balanced nicely with Ruekberg's pessimistic but passionate style. The songs featured are: 01- Cruel Girl 02- She's About To Cross My Mind 04- Hopes Up 05- Free http://www.theredbutton.net…
Barry Scott, a member of the 80's band The States, formed a new band and recorded a great Beatlesque cd called "Who Else". I'd like to provide a link to Barry, but it appears his website is no more. I have info that he's moved to California, so I'm hoping that he'll still be writing and recording and come up with another website soon. Until then..... The Songs Featured Are: 01- Because She's A Woman 02- Love Is One Of Those Words 03- My Marie 04- Scarecrow no link available…
I SO long for Phil to do another album in this style. Wonderful rock record with Beatle overtones. I like his acoustic stuff too, but he's LONG overdue for another rocking album. Check out the great rocking song "Doin' Nothing", the last song of the podcast. The songs included are: 01- Baby Blue 02- Don't Pass Me By 03- Everywhere I Look 04- Doin' Nothin' http://www.philkeaggy.com…
Paul McCartney's other touring guitarist who also doubles on bass for Sir Paul. More great beatle inspired powerpop. The Songs Featured Are: 01- Good For Nothing 02- Soft Machine 03- I Like You Better 04- Coming Up Roses http://www.brian-ray.com
Paul McCartney's touring lead guitarist is a pretty good songwriter himself. These are some great powerpop tunes. The Songs Featured Are: 01- Hurt Myself 02- Damaged Goods 03- Catbox Beach (instr) 04- Everybody Deserves An A In This Country http://www.rustyanderson.com
George Martin has re-worked and re-mixed some beatles classics, pulling parts from different songs and melding them together to form what is almost NEW beatle songs. It's quite remarkable! I've picked my favorites for this podcast, but do yourself a favor and buy the cd, it's meant to be listened to from start to finish as each song melds with the next. The songs featured are: 01- Drive My Car/The Word/What You're Doing 02- Octopus's Garden 03- Get Back 04- Tomorrow Never Knows/Within You Without You 05- Inner Light/Here Comes The Sun 06- While My Guitar Gently Weeps http://www.thebeatles.com…
Selected songs from the long awaited vocal return of Phil Keaggy! Whil I've been hoping for his "rocking" return, a'la his album "Blue", this will have to do for now. And this by no means is "settling" for something mediocre. This is just a softer style. The only rocker is the song "Why", which features vocals by Ian Keaggy. There's no way around hearing the beatles influences in this set of songs! Enjoy! Songs included are: 01- Dream Again 02- Thank You For Today 03- Love Is The Reason 04- Why http://www.philkeaggy.com…
