×Rick Parker is a well-traveled man with an impressive resume by any standards, but his family and faith come first. Living in Colorado in 1985, he met, fell in love, and married his wife Marianne. Together, they have two children—James, and Jennifer, who is married to their son-in-law, Nick Reed. Both Rick and Marianne grew up in military families who moved around the world. Rick’s memories of those years are intertwined with the many places they lived and visited. Seeing the Catholic faith practiced in so many different places and cultures remains a highlight for Rick to this day. Rick is a West Point graduate and went on to serve for five years in several places across the globe. After retiring from the army in 1990, Rick moved to Northwest Arkansas and went on to enjoy a 28-year career at Walmart where he continued to travel the world visiting Central and South America, Europe and Africa. As in his military days, Rick also continued to experience and practice his Catholic faith both at home and abroad. These days, Rick enjoys his granddaughter, Caroline, mentoring young people applying to West Point, honoring our fallen service men & women by placing flags on their graves at military cemeteries, volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul Church, as well as supporting the NWA Children’s Center.…

The requirements of every business are different even if the underlying systems are largely the same. We listen to what you need to accomplish so that we can not only meet your needs today but can scale and support your company more efficiently as it grows. We resolved to tailor our services to the requirements of small and medium-sized businesses, creating realistic solutions and attainable goals within the budget that they have to work with. Centerton Family Eyecare 101 Dawn Dr. Centerton, AR 72719 Phone: (479) 795-1411 The leading provider of quality vision care products and personalized optometric services in Centerton. Dr. Jacob Dufour Dr. Dufour was raised in Rogers, enjoying the culture and outdoor activities offered by Northwest Arkansas. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry at the University of Arkansas and went on to graduate summa cum laude from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN. His residency training in pediatric vision development and vision rehabilitation was completed in Seattle, WA through Pacific University. He is an active member of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development and the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation Association. Dr. Dufour’s behavioral approach focuses on visual function in the context of other sensory and motor systems. Outside of clinic Dr. Dufour spends his time at Beaver Lake and enjoying good food, art, and music. Dr. Dufour had many interest growing up, but he finally settled on optometry. “I was very uncertain of what career path I wanted to pursue. I considered working in architecture, marketing, philosophy, and graphic design. Eventually I decided on optometry for its personal interaction and community service,” said Dr. Dufour. Interacting with kids is a pleasure for Dr. Dufour. “Some might say I’m a kid at heart. I’ve always enjoyed working with kids in my church youth group and as a summer camp counselor, so it seemed pretty natural to direct my career toward pediatrics. In the summer of 2013 I began working in a vision therapy clinic and immediately developed a passion for this population. In the case of vision development and pediatrics, I was moved by the influence vision therapy had on my young patients struggling with academics. In working with adults with acquired brain injuries, I gained an appreciation for the debilitating potential of functional vision loss and the joy of helping people return to independence and a normal daily life. In both cases I find that it is in vision therapy and rehabilitation that I am best able to impact the lives of my patients; and as such, I strive to continually improve my care so to provide the best quality of life for my patients.” The best is yet to come…. according to Dr. Dufour. “While the field of vision therapy has achieved much in the way of clinical and academic research, there is a vast amount still unknown in the neurophysiology of many common visual disorders. I believe that the most effective treatments for strabismus, amblyopia, and post-traumatic vision syndrome are yet to come, and they are to be found through continued study and research of the neuro-visual system. My hope is to participate in the advancement of the profession through contributing to this research.” Dr. Dufour is at our Centerton location Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.…

We strive for a world where all women are financially independent, are treated with dignity and respect and are directly impacting their lives and those of their families. We aspire to a world that fully harnesses the power of women and recognizes their role in economic sustainability. Our Purpose “we are about much more than simply a new outfit” Our purpose is to offer long-lasting solutions that enable women to break the cycle of poverty. Dress for Success is part of a global movement for change, empowering women to obtain safer and better futures. Our Beliefs Every woman has the right to realize her full potential and achieve financial independence in a more egalitarian world. We believe that with the proper education, tools and action this world is possible. Poverty often affects women the most, and its effects on them and their families can be long-lasting. In fact, recognizing the significant role of women in economic development is the smart thing to do, as well as being socially and morally right. We believe that achieving gender equality is imperative to developing a sustainable and just world for all, which is possible by acknowledging the crucial role that women play in the world economy. We believe that by building up a woman’s agency and knowledge, better synergies between gender equality and economic sustainability are realized, enabling her to generate a long-term impact in both her private and public life. Tony Brink 1400 West Walnut Street Suite 117 Rogers, AR 72756 Phone: 479-633-8433 At Essential Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork we understand that no two people are alike. Our goal is to provide a variety of holistic therapies that will complement you and your lifestyle. Each massage is tailored to meet your specific needs. We believe wellness is found when we learn to balance our body, mind & spirit. Through relaxation and pain relief we can help you achieve this balance. Swedish massage is the most common type of massage. If you are new to massage it is a great place to start. During a session your therapist will combine traditional techniques characterized by stroking, kneading, friction, and sometimes percussion. Swedish massage reduces muscular tension, enhances circulation, and leaves you with an overall sense of well-being. Hot Stone massage incorporates the benefits of heat and massage therapy. During a session your therapist will place stones on specific areas of the body and also use hot stones to massage your muscles. Heat generated from the stones improves circulation and aids in relaxation. Hot Stone massage can benefit anyone and can be useful on muscles that are difficult to relax. Neuromuscular Therapy is a specialized form of Deep-tissue massage that addresses underlying muscle groups, fascia, and trigger points. During a session your therapist will use friction and focused pressure to relieve muscular pain and discomfort. Neuromuscular Therapy can relieve a variety of symptoms, and when combined with other therapies it offers a sense of deep relaxation. CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle form of bodywork that addresses the head, spinal column, and sacrum. During a session your therapist will use gentle pressure to release compression in areas that hold stress. Craniosacral Therapy is performed while clothed, so be sure to wear comfortable clothing. You will find this technique deeply relaxing. It is also known to relieve migraines, neck and back pain, and anxiety. Deep-tissue massage sounds like what it is, deep pressure massage. During a session your therapist will use firm pressure that concentrates on underlying muscle groups and fascia in the body to relieve underlying pain patterns and other physical ailments. It is important to communicate your needs to your therapist to achieve a proper level of pressure. Deep-tissue massage can also break up scar tissue and provide stress relief. Reflexology is a Chinese style of bodywork used to relieve tension and promote wellness. During a session your therapist will apply focused pressure to reflex points, primarily on your feet, that effect every part of your body. Reflexology can be relaxing as well as invigorating. It also can provide relief for those suffering from foot pain. Fascial Release is a form of therapy that focuses on relieving tissues that restrict movement and cause imbalance in the body. During a session your therapist will apply gentle sustained pressure to improve movement and circulation in the body. Fascial Release is often combined with other therapies to optimize relaxation and pain relief. Massage cupping, inspired by an ancient technique used in Traditional Chinese Medicine, uses negative pressure on the skin’s service to facilitate healing and relaxation. During a session your therapist will use glass or plastic cups and suction, to loosen underlying fascia and connective tissue. Suction can range from light to heavy and the movements performed by the therapist can be stimulating or sedating.…

Ideal Health NWA Why is Ideal Health NWA different? Results -Ideal Protein Works • Unlike other diets it is not a quick fix pill or shake to magically solve your weight problem; but offers a proven medically sound protocol that works. We understand you • Our dedicated health professionals and coaches offer one-on-one personalized support and weekly follow-ups where you learn the tools needed to lose weight and stay healthy and vibrant ! We believe that learning to eat REAL food and properly understanding the science behind weight gain is the lifetime solution to health and wellness. Why am I overweight? We at Ideal Health NWA believe that the secret to effective weight loss is controlling insulin in the body. Insulin is a very important hormone that regulates energy storage, among other things. One of the functions of insulin is to tell fat cells to store fat and to hold on to the fat that they already carry. The Standard American Diet leads to insulin resistance in many individuals. This elevates insulin levels all over the body, causing energy to be selectively stored in the fat cells instead of being available for use. The best way to lower insulin is to cut back on carbohydrates, which usually leads to an automatic reduction in calorie intake and effortless weight loss. No calorie counting or portion control is required. We have chosen to use a product called Ideal Protein to assist you in losing weight. To learn more about how the Ideal Protein Weight Loss Method can help you in your journey to health click the links below. What is the Cost of Program? We are often asked the question- what does the diet cost? A simple answer would be ….$350 to get started and about $100 average per week on phase one of the diet. Startup cost includes: • One month of vitamin supplements • Other essential supplies • One time orientation fee • Personal coaching appointments while on the program • 1st week of Ideal Protein product Depending on how much you have to lose and how disciplined you are to follow the plan, the total cost investment will be up to you. We offer a clinical approach to weight loss utilizing personalized diet coaching, nutritional reeducation and the advanced cellular nutrition of Ideal Protein products. The Story of Ideal Health NWA I have always been, in general, a healthy person. I played all sports, ALL YEAR ROUND. (My poor parents.) I knew that fried foods and sugar items were bad so I stayed away from them. Growing up I basically ate chicken tenders and salads. (I am one of those people that can eat the same thing over and over and over. My poor husband…..) Since I loved sports so much I pursued health and fitness degrees in college. Having a Bachelor degree in Sports Fitness and a Masters degree in Kinesiology; I thought I was very knowledgeable about fitness, nutrition, and “body science”. I soon realized that I knew just the “tip of the iceberg”. I soon found out that the academic programs of health and fitness do not truly teach or focus on true nutrition that changes peoples lives. I find it it sad that I went to 18 years of schooling and did not have the foundational eating habits taught to me. And I was in the health and fitness majors! In my high school, college, and early single years, my diet consisted mostly of: fruit, granola, chicken, and cliff bars. On the surface none of these items are inherently bad for you. At least I wasn’t eating fried foods 3 meals a day. But the nutrients that I needed to have my body functioning at its optimal level was missing. Looking back I wonder how would my two pregnancies would have been on sub-optimal nutrition? The first time I did Ideal Protein was in September 2011. My Mother In-Law was opening up a clinic and I was going to do some coaching for her and I wanted/needed to go on the diet to experience the plan so I could effectively coach dieters. I was engaged and getting married in December so I was working out about an hour a day; I wanted to make sure I looked good for my wedding! I didn't need to lose weight - I ate what I thought was a relatively healthy diet and I was extremely active. I went on plan and boy was I surprised at the results!! Not only did I lose weight and inches, but I had an amazing amount of energy, I just felt better overall, I started sleeping better, and my confidence was boosted! I actually gained a little weight on one part of the diet because of the muscle gain from the protein! Over the years I was never eating enough protein and now my whole body was “thanking me”. You see protein is one of the building blocks for the body. Your muscles need it. Your internal organs need it. Some weird processes that I never knew about needs it. I lost a ton of inches for my small body (I was teased plenty about being on the diet… “You make me sick” is what I heard. All in joking of course). I was only on plan for one month since I didn't need to lose the weight, but I gained lifetime benefits from that experience. Here I am now, 6 years later, and still much healthier all because of Ideal Protein. Vegetables and protein (real foods) are now a consistent part of my daily eating. Because I have followed the Ideal Protein principles, I have been able to maintain my weight over the years even through pregnancies. The drastic weight loss in my personal experience came from my husband. He’s one of those people that looks at food and gains weight. Following the Ideal Protein principles especially from it’s amazing “Maintenance Phase” we continue implementing healthy lifestyle choices into our diets! It is such a blessing that I found this education, diet, lifestyle so early in my marriage and life. It is changing my family forever. For example, both of my kids LOVE broccoli! Win! They generally eat anything that we feed them. I desire so much for my family to be healthy and to share that knowledge with other people. I have been working in the health/fitness industry for many years and I have seen many health issues - more than obesity - that could be managed so much better just by eating a healthy diet. Our bodies are truly amazing and function so much better when we properly take care of them. The Ideal Protein Protocol is more than just about weight loss - this protocol focuses on weight AND lifestyle management - lifestyle BUILDING and lifestyle LIVING! Ideal Protein has repeatable, predictable, and measurable results. If you want to learn how to lose weight in a healthy manner or if you just need help implementing healthy food choices into your diet, send me a message to learn more!…

Girls on the Run in NWA https://www.gotrnwa.org we inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running. we envision a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams What we do At Girls on the Run we inspire girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. Trained coaches lead small teams through our research-based curricula which includes dynamic discussions, activities and running games. Over the course of the ten-week program, girls in 3rd-8th grade develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. The program culminates with girls positively impacting their communities through a service project and being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K event. Why it matters Girls face social pressures and conflicting messages about how they should act and who they should be. Studies show that by adolescence, girls' confidence drops about twice as much as boys'. Friendships become more complicated and challenging, girls' perception of their academic ability declines, the likelihood of anxiety and depression increases and participation in physical activity plummets. It doesn't have to be this way. We believe that EVERY GIRL is inherently FULL OF POWER and POTENTIAL. By knowing they are the leaders of their lives, these are the girls who WILL CHANGE THE WORLD. Throughout the past eleven years ALS in the Heartland has: •Served in 60 counties. •Aided in keeping 59% of ALS individuals in their homes throughout their illness. •Provided thousands of respite grants, or breaks from the emotionally and physically taxing role of caregiving. •Utilized 100% of every dollar donated for services in Nebraska and western Iowa. •Supplied thousands of pieces of equipment to people with ALS. •Received feedback that 96% of patient families have found ALS in the Heartland services helpful and needed. ALS in the Heartland is honored to travel this journey with those touched by ALS. ALS Facts Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), commonly referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease, is a rapidly progressive, invariably fatal neurological disease that attacks the nerve cells (neurons) responsible for controlling voluntary muscles. As of today, the cause of ALS is unknown. There are no known preventative measures, and there is no recognized cure. •About 30,000 people nationwide suffer from ALS. •ALS strikes nearly 5,600 people in the U.S. each year. •Symptoms can include twitching, cramping, or stiffness of muscles – muscle weakness affecting an arm or a leg, slurred and nasal speech, or difficulty chewing or swallowing. •The disease most commonly strikes people between 40-60 years of age. •Young adults and older individuals can also develop the disease. •Average lifespan after diagnosis is two to five years. •The disease crosses all ethnic, racial and socioeconomic boundaries. •Men are affected more often than women. •Eventually all muscles under voluntary control are affected. •Because ALS affects only motor neurons, the disease does not impair a person’s mind, personality, intelligence, or memory. •Patients usually maintain control of eye muscles and bladder and bowel functions. •Patients lose their strength and ability to move their arms, legs, body, and when the muscles in the diaphragm and chest wall fail, the patients lose the ability to breathe without ventilatory support. •Beginning symptoms show in one of three areas: lower extremity, bulbar area, or upper extremity. •No one test can provide a definitive diagnosis for ALS, although the presence of upper and lower motor neuron signs in a single limb is strongly suggestive. •The diagnosis of ALS is primarily based on the symptoms and signs the physician observes in a patient and a series of tests to rule out other diseases. _________________________________________________________ Walk to defeat ALS August 25th 2018 http://web.alsa.org/site/TR?fr_id=13231&pg=entryThe Supply Fundraising through the Walk drives bold and urgent innovation as we march together toward a treatment and ultimately a cure for ALS.
