Danni Washington speaks with Melissa Cristina Márquez, also known as the Mother of Sharks. Puerto Rican born and raised, Melissa has used her unique upbringing and love for sharks to become one of the biggest advocates for our oceans' top predator. First being introduced to sharks after watching Discovery's Shark Week as a child, Melissa took the deep dive into marine biology. Topics discussed range from bioluminescent bays to studying in New Zealand and Australia to our relationship with sharks and our big blue planet as a whole. Melissa Cristina Márquez is a proud Latina marine biologist who is also known as the Mother of Sharks. She is a TV presenter, freelance wildlife writer, and an advocate for inclusive science communication. Melissa is also the host of Conciencia Azul, a PhD candidate, and currently traveling around the world as an active member of the OceanXplorers Team. Thanks for listening!
