The world often feels rigged. And this episode is a wake-up call to recognize the barriers that exist for those who don’t fit the traditional mold. In this episode, which is a kind of tribute to my dear departed Dad, I recount some powerful lessons from the man who was a brilliant psychiatrist and my biggest champion. He taught me that if something feels off about the environment you’re in, it probably is—and it’s absolutely hella-not your fault. We dare to break into the uncomfortable truth that many workplaces are designed for a very specific demographic, leaving neurodivergent individuals, particularly those on the autism spectrum, feeling excluded. I share three stories in which my Dad imparted to me more than my fair share of his wisdom, and I'm hoping you to can feel empowered. You'll learn that we can advocate for ourselves and others to create a more inclusive work culture. This week, we begin by discussing the Mets’ 7-0 homestand followed by the rollercoaster that was the Mets/Nationals series in DC. We also chat about the vibe shift in the NL East and how the Mets have had the Phillies ’ number in recent years. Next, we shout out the Women of the K Collection from the Royals and the GOAT Mina Kimes . We also talk about Jarren Duran , poor fan behavior, and mental health in sports. Welcome to From Complex to Queens, Home Run Applesauce’s podcast focusing on the Mets ’ minor league system. As is our MO, we start on the negative side of things. The early performances from most of the guys we chose as our personal follows for this season have not been great; aside from Ronny Mauricio finally returning to game action in extended spring training, everyone else is scuffling. We spend the first half of the show discussing those slow starts, as well as slow starts for Jonah Tong and Brandon Sproat. Don’t worry though, we bring it back with a whole bunch of positives. Both of us really liked Ryan Lambert, and he looks like a dude not who just need a promotion but who could actually help the major league team this year. Zach Thornton probably should be promoted out of Brooklyn as well. We’re a little more dubious on Jacob Reimer without batted ball data, but there’s some reason for optimism. Jack Wenninger and AJ Ewing look really promising. And of course, Lukas takes a victory lap on Chris Suero, who has been on fire to start the year. Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets , social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space. This week, we begin by discussing the Mets’ inconsistent offense, particularly the lower half of the order. But the Mets have been winning games on the back of their pitching staff. We discuss what a six-man pitching staff might look like moving forward and the importance of keeping Kodai Senga healthy. In our baseball segment this week, we talk about how embarrassing the Pirates have been lately between replacing a Roberto Clemente tribute with an advertisement and the Bucco Bricks fiasco . Welcome to From Complex to Queens, Home Run Applesauce’s podcast focusing on the Mets ’ minor league system. It’s cold out there, but in NYC and across every Met affiliate in the area - in other words, it’s a good time to be a St. Lucie Met. None of our guys-to-follow are off to particularly hot starts, but hopefully the performances will warm up as the weather does. We also quickly run through the Mets’ affiliate rosters and some early season performances. Syracuse is very boring, as is a lot of Binghamton though there’s more to get excited about there (shoutout Dylan Tebrake, back after a year on the shelf due to injury). Things get really exciting in Brooklyn and St. Lucie though, with interesting talent top to bottom. And we’d be remiss if we didn’t gush about Matt Allan’s feel good return to the mound. After the break, we blitz through an overview of this year’s top-25, an exercise normally reserved for the offseason but which we missed due to our hiatus. Both Thomas and Lukas have some divergent takes from the consensus, with all of Blade Tidwell, Eli Serrano, Chris Suero, and Ryan Lambert. The Mets are back, and so is Grace. She starts by discussing some major spring training storylines she missed, and then discusses the beginning of the 2025 season. She also talks about Daniel Murphy's addition to the SNY broadcast team and thorny emotions that has and continues to provide. Next, she gets into the Oscars. The highs, the lows, the good, the very very bad. She discusses the No Other Land win and subsequent attack on one of it's co-directors, and the recent drama with Rachel Zegler and how disingenuous it all feels to pile on a young girl for her beliefs. Finally, a 2025-centric movie minute. One gigantic satire, and one sly, sexy espionage thriller. Both excellent in their own ways, but two very different vibes to be sure. Welcome to From Complex to Queens, Home Run Applesauce’s podcast focusing on the Mets ’ minor league system. After a lengthy hiatus, we’re back! Things will be a bit different going forward, including a biweekly release schedule as we try to keep things fresh and interesting for both ourselves and listeners. This week, we review podcast-relevant news from Spring Training, including Brett Baty’s strong performance (technically not a prospect, but still a product of player development), questions about Luisangel Acuña’s attitude, and some positive developments from Jonah Tong and Matthew Allan. Next, we discuss our bold predictions for this season. It’s a sign of the direction of the franchise that we were overwhelmingly positive instead of fairly pessismistic as we usually are. Finally, we bring up a new segment; three guys we’re each interested in following this season for one reason or another. We’ll keep an extra close eye on these guys throughout the season beyond what our usual coverage will be just to see what develops. As always, you can listen or subscribe to all of our Home Run Applesauce podcasts through Apple Podcasts, where we encourage you to leave a review if you enjoy the show. It really helps! Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space. This week, we begin by discussing the injuries to Francisco Alvarez and Jeff McNeil and what that means for the Opening Day roster - namely that the Mets probably should go acquire a catcher outside the organization and also that Brett Baty and Luisangel Acuña are both making the team. We also talk about how the Mets will set up their rotation to begin the season with Clay Holmes named as the Opening Day starter. We also chat about the Spring Breakout game and give our bold predictions for the season. In our baseball segment this week, we chat about the uncertain future of the Tampa Bay Rays and the upcoming Tokyo Series. Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise. Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space. This week, we begin by chatting about the state of the Mets’ rotation now that both Frankie Montas and Sean Manaea will start the season on the injured list. We also rave about the Mets’ pitching lab and that the Mets finally seem to be developing relievers. We then choose our Dudes for 2025 - guys that we think are going to be unsung heroes this season. We then answer a couple of listener questions about the Mets spring training hats and about our NL East predictions for this season. We also discuss the Mets’ new $5 Tuesdays promotion , the end of MLB’s partnership with ESPN , and Rob Manfred considering reinstating Pete Rose . Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise. Grace is back, and so is baseball! In the first couple weeks of spring training, nothing monumental has happened, but Juan Soto has hit a few homers for the Mets already which is a welcome sight. The Mets have also had a few injuries, but Grace argues that it's not quite time to hit the panic button. Next, Grace gives her thoughts and predictions on the above the line Oscar categories. Actress is definitely the most interesting and beguiling, but there are a few other question marks and interesting races elsewhere. Finally, Grace has a movie minute full of lower-key Oscar nominees this year. The top billed, major contenders are (mostly) great, but there are some other gems in the list of films with only a few nominations, and Grace highlights some. Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space. This week, we begin by celebrating the return of Pete Alonso, whose contract is really a win for all sides. We also discuss the return of Ryne Stanek, who is yet another player who mentioned family as a reason for signing with the Mets. We then talk about the unfortunate news that Frankie Montas has a high grade lat strain and will be sidelined for at least 6 to 8 weeks. It is a blow to the rotation, but as we get into, the Mets still have quite a bit of pitching depth to draw from. We also discuss the state of baseball heading into spring training, particularly in the AL East, which will likely be the most competitive division in the American League with the Red Sox having added significant pieces, including Alex Bregman. Linda also gets her first look at the upsetting visual that is Devin Williams without a beard and we talk a little bit about Marcus Stroman reporting late to spring training. Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise. Grace is back (after some technical difficulties) With a bit to talk about. She discusses the Pete re-sgining, the Bregman deal, and some other odds and ends before spring training. She also talks about the Hall of Fame voting results and the new Mets jersey. Then, she talks about the Oscar drama of the past few weeks, the tweets of Best Actress nominee Karla Sofía Gascón. There's the crazy tweets, but there's also the dilemma: do you disqualify her and create a slippery slope, or do you leave her be and create the (however miniscule) chance she can get up on stage and accept the Oscar? Finally, Grace does a movie minute highlighting some of her favorite movies that were completely shut out at the Oscars this year. Comedies, dramas, and everything in between, there's plenty of great films from outside the Oscars.
