Hey there, welcome back to the Midlife CEO Podcast! In this episode, we’re diving into a topic that’s super important for women coaches and service providers: how to make more money by offering fewer programs. This might sound counterintuitive, however, it can really simplify your business, boost your revenue, and increase your impact. Key Takeaways: Balancing Impact and Income: As coaches and service providers, we all want to make a difference and make an income. It’s important to align your services with both goals to build a sustainable, profitable and impactful business. The Challenge of Offering Too Many Programs: Having too many programs can spread you thin and complicate your business. Each program needs its own marketing and sales system, which can be overwhelming. The Power of Narrowing Down: Focusing on fewer, high-impact programs can lead to greater success. Jeannie shares how she narrowed down her offerings to three core services, leading to her first multiple six-figure year. Resistance to Narrowing Down: Many often resist offering fewer programs, fearing it will limit their revenue growth. Jeannie explains why narrowing down can actually help you expand your impact and revenue. Action Step: Think about how much money you want to make and how many people you want to serve. Do you think adding more services each year will make running your business easier or harder? Aim for a lean, efficient approach that lets you enjoy your work, serve clients effectively, and maximize your profits. Next Steps: Want to learn more about streamlining your business and maximizing your profits? One of the top questions I get from coaches and online business owners is whether they should use a blog or podcast to showcase their content and attract clients online. My answer very much depends on their stage of business and what’s going to work best for them with regard to sticking with it long term. Personally, as a podcast host, I’m a fan of hosting a podcast but know how much work goes into hosting one. That’s why I’m excited for this week’s guest, Phyllis Nichols of Sound Advice Strategies, a podcast production company that specializes in business podcasts. I asked Phyllis to join me on the show to talk about how to use a podcast to not only build an aligned audience of listeners but how you can turn listeners into future clients and customers. In this episode, we covered a lot including: Use audio content to create credibility and demonstrate your expertise Top trends that are working well in 2023 Top 3 ways to monetize your (audio) content Which podcasts she’s listening to Why she loves sales and how it’s helped her business growth And so much more. I love talking about and teaching how to sell. No matter if we're talking virtual sales strategies or live ones - when it comes to figuring out the best ways to sell and fill your coaching programs and offers, I could talk about this for days on end. In fact, I talked a lot about that in part one of this conversation with Emily Aarons on her podcast, Aligned & Unstoppable. Take a listen to our conversation about it here. One thing I've learned over the years is that selling and launching isn't only about strategy, it goes far beyond it! Because I work with many women coaches and service providers who are either learning new sales strategies or still trying to get comfortable selling, I decided to invite Emily onto the show to talk about how to align your energy to your sales strategies and launches. When I left corporate I couldn't wait to leave the structure behind, but those early days and months of not having it were hard on my business. Like most of the Midlife CEOs I work with who've had jobs and careers prior to starting their business, structure was typically built into their day. More freedom is a benefit to working for yourself, and while exciting to have it when you haven't had it before it can be hard to know what to focus on as your business grows. Some model what they used to do in their job and find a rhythm immediately, but then find themselves focusing on the things that aren't supporting business growth. And others have no idea what to focus on and find that having the freedom allows them to fill their time with anything or nothing if they choose. Today I talk about what I went through to develop more structure in each stage of business. How I lacked it initially and how I made some mistakes that I wouldn't make today. I also talk about some things I've changed more recently that have provided even more structure to allow for more creativity and more self-care - because we all know Midlife CEOs need more time to take care of our bodies and beings. No matter if you're in the growth, expansion, or scaling stage of growing your coaching or service-based business, take a listen to this episode to see if you can find a little more structure to your business to support your next phase of growth.
