Societies differ in how they manufacture consent, where decisions are made and who has the power to change direction. Two main models to organize these questions seem to either concentrate power in the hands of few or alternatively empower the people being governed themselves. Even the ancient Greeks said that the best government possible would be the dictatorship of the wise. Yet we all know that there is only limited supply on truly wise leaders.
