×Jen and Noam are not certain what is going on. Businesses are not certain what is going on. The president seems certain about what is going on but is he really? All of this uncertainty is certainly not making the market or voters happy. We do our best to try to figure it out, from tariffs to immigration policy to the bizarre Time interview with Trump. In keeping with the spirit of the show (and because Noam finds the current news cycles to be anxiety inducing) we do a bit of a dive into the controversies surrounding the new seasons of The Last Of Us and Andor. We will be back on Twitch this week, discussing all of the TV we’ve been watching over the past few weeks. Click below to subscribe! https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…
Noam and Jen the ongoing immigration saga involving Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Trump administration's refusal to bring him back to the US despite a unanimous SCOTUS ruling to do so, Senator Van Hollen’s very odd trip to check in on Garcia, the virtues of just doing things correctly the first time, another SCOTUS ruling against Trump’s immigration policy, and what happens from here. We also spend a little time talking about how nobody is talking about Governor Josh Shapiro’s home being firebombed on the first night of Passover, and Noam does his best to lighten the mood by giving some entertainment recommendations. We will be back on Twitch this week, discussing all of the TV we’ve been watching over the past few weeks. Click below to subscribe! https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…
Jen and Noam talk about tariffs some more because we’re not off that roller coaster yet, and who knows when we will be. Who has tariffs, who doesn’t, how much, and what is being subject to tariffs…well, that may all change by the time you listen to this episode. We also talk about the brewing fight / constitutional crisis over the Kilmar Abrego-Garcia case. SCOTUS says he needs to come back, but Team Trump is pretending they can’t make that happen. This is bad, considering the Trump administration's argument that once they send someone to El Salvador, their hands are tied. There is no way that will get abused in the future. To wrap up, we spend a little time talking about Bill Mahr’s lovely dinner with Trump and Friends, how we don’t care which Trump is the real one and which is the kayfabe, and if Mahr got played. We will be back on Twitch this week, discussing all of the TV we’ve been watching over the past few weeks. Click below to subscribe! https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…
Jen and Noam talk about tariffs. Not just a stream of expletives though, we have a thoughtful discussion about the concepts of tariffs as a policy, their inherent drawbacks, whether any of this is a good idea, how does one measure success when a goal is not defined, Israeli dairy farmers, cronyism, child labor, America’s post-industrial economy, what manufacturing should be reshored, and a rant about owning physical copies of things. We will be back on Twitch this week, discussing all of the TV we’ve been watching over the past few weeks. Click below to subscribe! https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…
Noam and Jen return from an unplanned break just in time to discuss a titanically bad week in American politics. We have Cabinet members inadvertently sharing classified information with the editor in chief of The Atlantic, a president who is out of the loop on important matters of national security, pardons and commutations for sale, and and the debate around due process for potential deportees. We will be back on Twitch this week, discussing all of the TV we’ve been watching over the past few weeks. Click below to subscribe! https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…
Jen and Noam work their way through another week of news; the tariff rollercoaster, another Ukraine - Russia policy fail, and the case of Mahmoud Khaili. Noam and Jen muster the strength to talk about the week that was, as crappy as it was. We go over the ongoing saga of the Tate brothers and those who feel the need to platform them, Jen finally gives her rant on the right-wing podcast sphere and how fake it all is, how antisemitism is the new cool thing, Europe getting it together, the insanity of the US’s new policy of turning off military tech when it feels like it, and the end of Pax Americana. We will be back on Twitch this week, discussing all of the TV we’ve been watching over the past few weeks. Click below to subscribe! https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…
Jen and Noam spend her birthday breaking down an extremely chaotic week in news. We discuss the new Alex Thompson and Jake Tapper book about Biden, the botched release of the Epstein Files, the Tate Brothers returning to the US, and the blowup at the White House between Zelensky and Trump and Vance. At the end of the episode we give an ode to the S2E7 episode of Severance, which is just a beautiful example of visual storytelling while advancing the plot. We will be back on Twitch this week, discussing all of the TV we’ve been watching over the past few weeks. Click below to subscribe! https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…
Noam and Jen go over Elon’s not so great week and his not so great reactions to his personal dramas. Specifically, his decision to send out an email to every federal employee asking them to give a five point summary of what they did on the job last week or else. Since he decided to send this email on a Saturday night the reactions from various government agencies are still coming in but the FBI and DOJ did not find it at all amusing. Where do Elon and DOGE go now that they are receiving institutional pushback? We also discuss another disaster - the Trump 2.0 administration’s first foray into serious foreign policy affairs in holding “peace talks” between the US and Russia. If it seems like someone is missing there, that’s because he was, and he made it very clear before the meeting that Ukraine would not be accepting any deal that didn’t include their input. With the talks DOA, the rare earth deal scotched, and nothing to show for the attempt, Trump decided to launch a full-scale social media attack on Zelkensky and Ukraine. It seems that calling Zelensky a dictator was a bridge too far for some conservatives however, and the cracks in the conservative coalition are starting to show. Finally we discuss the ongoing ceasefire/hostage release going on in Gaza, including Hamas finally returning the deceased members of the Bibas family. The details are horrid, and Israel’s response is still not set, but it seems we may be reaching the end of the pro-Hamas movement in the US. We will be back on Twitch this week, discussing all of the TV we’ve been watching over the past few weeks. Click below to subscribe! https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…
Jen and Noam once again try to shove a week’s worth of events into one pod episode, which is getting harder and harder because everyone refuses to just be normal. We start off by discussing the unexpected news that Elon Musk has indeed welcomed (?) his 13th child, this time with tradgirl influencer Ashley St. Clair. Question mark because Elon does not seem to want to acknowledge the child or its mother. While we try not to have too much fun at Ashley’s expense, we do discuss the realities of trad influencers not living their message, a new name for baby mamas, showing feet in a NYP photo spread, and the hypocrisy of it all. After thoroughly discussing all of that we move on to actual news, such as the possible upcoming negotiations to end the Ukrainian war. Considering we can’t figure out who’s on first, let alone who is going to be invited to the negotiations and what exactly will be negotiated and what the US’s role will be in any negotiated ceasefire, it’s a little hard to say if this is a good idea. Also not at all certain is how the Ukrainian people feel about a potential deal, whatever that may end up being. We also talk about the Department of Justice dropping its corruption case against NYC mayor Eric Adams and the extreme fallout from it, both in people quitting their jobs and reactions in the online sphere. Given that the quid pro quo is a bit hard to miss, and conservative lawyers resigning over being asked to sign off on dropping the case, how does this square with the whole draining the swamp ethos Trump promised? Finally we get to the big news that the Gulf of Mexico is now the Gulf of America. And if you don’t call it that, you’ll get kicked out of the White House. Obviously this is peak stupidity and nobody asked for it but what were Trump voters asking for exactly? And speaking of Trump, what’s up with him lately? He seems a bit disinterested in the whole being president thing. We will be back on Twitch this week, discussing all of the TV we’ve been watching over the past few weeks. Click below to subscribe! https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…
Noam and Jen talk too much again this week and still don’t cover everything that happened. What didn’t happen are the tariffs on Canada and Mexico, because…well trade wars are not fun and easy to win after all. At least not where there is way more fun stuff to do, like threaten to have the US annex Gaza and turn it into the Las Vegas of the Middle East. Speaking of, Jen and Noam don’t agree on Trump’s intentions or what exactly he’s trying to accomplish. More importantly, if he is serious about the US getting directly involved in Gaza, who is gonna tell him it’s a really really bad idea? Is Trump trying to finesse Egypt and Jordan? Will any of this actually solve the very real problem of what to do with Gaza going forward? And of course this past week was the week of DOGE. From hijacking the Treasury payment portal, getting access to secure information, unconstitutional power grabs, turning USAID into Public Enemy #1, Trump’s interesting disinterest in DOGE’s dealings, and wasting a valuable opportunity to effect actual reform a la BLM. We will be back on Twitch this week, discussing all of the TV we’ve been watching over the past few weeks. Click below to subscribe! https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…

Jen and Noam cannot fit all of the events of this past week into one episode so we decide to focus on the upcoming slate of tariffs and the horrible American Airlines / Blackhawk collision. We discuss what tariffs may or may not mean for you and your grocery bill and try to figure out what exactly the tariffs are supposed to accomplish in the first place. Is Trump trying to stem the stream of fentanyl into the US? Bring manufacturing back to the states? Address trade imbalance? Replace the income tax? We don’t know. After that, we move on to the accidental collision of an Army Blackhawk helicopter and an American Airlines passenger jet in DC and what is to blame. We do agree that it wasn’t DEI that caused the accident, despite what the President, Vice President, Secretary of Defense, and random morons on social media say. Also discussed is the knee jerk reaction of blaming Trump despite him only being in office two weeks and the issues with the FAA going back decades. We do manage to touch on some of the other horrible awful no good that happened this past week, like the purge of government workers that Trump doesn’t like and Elon now literally having the keys to the Treasury. It was a bad week, and it was only week two. Noam decides to add a new segment to the end of the show because he wanted to talk about the latest Sanderson novel to you. He does not, however, give a Slay The Spire update. We will be back on Twitch this week, discussing all of the TV we’ve been watching over the past few weeks. Noam and Jen try their best to ride the wave of news from Trump’s first week back in his old office. We try to decipher what Musk’s, er, heartfelt wave to the crowd / possible Nazi salute means and why he can’t just apologize for being weird in public. We then move into discussing the J6 pardon bonanza and our theories about whether the Trump camp was lying when it said each case would be evaluated individually or if Trump just noped out of doing the work. After that, we discuss the confirmation proceedings of Trump’s various Cabinet nominees, including the one whose confirmation seems to be moving at a snail’s pace (it’s Tulsi). The two biggest confirmations from the past week were Marcio Rubio as Secretary of State and Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense, and we discuss the merits and demerits of each one. We will be back on Twitch this week to discuss the TV we’ve been watching over the past few weeks. Click below to subscribe! https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…
Jen and Noam kick off the Trump presidency by discussing their first thoughts on his inaugural performance, Melania’s choice of head and face covering, if either of them was happy to be there, and the missed opportunity for a beautiful inauguration picture. We also spend a little time on Biden’s pardon frenzy and why it does (or does not) matter. From there we spend a little time not discussing the Gaza ceasefire / hostage release deal and why we both have mixed feelings on the subject. We will discuss it at some point, just not today. Finally we get to the really important story from this past week - what’s going on with TikTok? The Supreme Court upheld the law, but does it matter if nobody wants to enforce it? Will anyone make Trump enforce the law? What good would a half sale of TikTok US do, if the CCP still has access to the app’s data? Can e-girls cause a color revolution in China? We will be back on Twitch next week, discussing all of the TV we’ve been watching over the past few weeks. Click below to subscribe! https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…
Noam and Jen are back for 2025! While it feels like it has been a few months since we last recorded it has only been a few weeks, we can’t help that the internet had no chill over the holidays. We get back into the groove by discussing the current SCOTUS case that will decide if TikTok US will be allowed to continue after 1/19, the legal arguments on both sides of the case, the viability of China owning a social media platform that operates in the US, how far can 1st Amendment and national security arguments be stretched, ByteDance sacrificing TikTok US before they will sell, and what the potential blowback will be if TikTok goes bye-bye. Relatedly, we discuss Mark Zuckerberg’s big announcement about the changes coming to content moderation and internal operations at Meta, his newfound hero status in certain circles, playing the victim on Rogan, and why he’s striking this tone now (hint - it’s related to the TikTok case). Lastly we discuss the wildfires currently burning in parts of Los Angeles, DEI water distribution, politicians who can’t handle a crisis, how fires work, the importance of fixing immediate issues first, and how this is all the environmentalists' fault. We will be back on Twitch, likely this week, discussing all of the TV we’ve been watching over the past few weeks. Click below to subscribe! https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…

Jen and Noam sit down one last time in 2024 to talk about how old people are just the worst. This past week gave us a Wall Street Journal piece detailing how Biden’s term has been marked by good days and bad days, the disappearance of Congresswoman Kay Granger and how it was discovered that she has been in an assisted care facility since July, if Trump really cares that Elon stepped into Congressional doodoo, the apparent allure of living in the bad part of DC, the attack on a Christmas market in Magdeburg and how the motive doesn’t make much sense to normies, and the rise of Terminally Online Rabbits. We will be taking a few weeks off from streaming due to the holidays / vacation but we’ll be back in 2025 with more random nonsense! In the meantime, be sure to subscribe to the Twitch channel. https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…

Noam and Jen try very hard to fit the past week into an hour and….we did pretty well! We discuss Luigi Mangione and how he is not qualified to make final decisions on anyone in the healthcare industry, Biden’s mass pardon / commutation of prisoners on house arrest since COVID and how some non violent offender really do belong in prison, the silliness of prison abolitionists being mad that a guy who sent minors to prison for money is out free, what the actual is going on over at Bluesky, Assad officially being ousted in Syria and what comes next for the country, and the hysteria over “drones” in the night sky. Check us out Thursday nights at 7:30pm EST on Twitch, we’ll be back this week with talk about Arcane, Dan Da Dan, the Game Awards, game trailers, and who knows what else. https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…

Ambitious Crossover Attempt

Jen and Noam do their very best to tackle all of the important news stories from last week. We have everyone’s favorite segment the Taylor Lorenz Minute where she has given us the concept of rawdogging air and a charming meme celebrating the murder of UHC’s CEO Brian Thompson. From there we talk about the aforementioned murder of Thompson, the vile cheering on of his death due to his job title, how we don’t even know why he was murdered, and how none of this is going to help fix the US healthcare system. We also take a look at coups around the world, starting with the attempted coup in South Korea that Noam had forgotten about and catching up with the goings on in Syria and the end of the Assad regime. Check us out Thursday nights at 7:30pm EST on Twitch. https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…

Noam and Jen go over the surprisingly successful offense that anti-Assad forces have mounted in Syria over the past few days, including their retaking of Aleppo (that’s a city in Syria) and their unimpeded march toward Damascus. We discuss what this means as far as downstream effects of actions that Ukraine and Israel have taken, how Iran and Russia are in no position to help Assad, where is China going to land on all of this, the silliness of isolationism, and how the Axis of Upheaval is being rapidly upheaved. We also spend some time discussing the Harris campaign post mortems (or lack thereof) currently happening, with the excuses being put forth by campaign heavyweights as to how mistakes were made but not by them. There is also a brief discussion of Rogan’s decision to not host Zelensky when approached to do so and what the true meaning of audience capture is. Check us out Thursday nights at 7:30pm EST on Twitch, we certainly have plenty to discuss on the TV front this week. https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…

Jen and Noam discuss Matt Gaetz withdrawing from the Attorney General nomination at Trump’s request and what does it mean, the Ethics report and what could possibly be in it that is so bad that Gaetz gave up his political career to keep it from coming out, the exodus to Bluesky, how skeeting is working out for everyone, how to terraform Mars, and if Noam should DM Elon about radiation poisoning. Noam and Jen try to dissect Trump’s bizarre Cabinet nominations, from the stupid to the desperate to the dangerous. We speculate on recess appointments, how everyone hates Matt Gaetz, who will actually make it through confirmation, if any Republican will actually go against Trump on his picks, and the weird hazing of RFK Jr. At the end, we give a brief rundown of what we’re watching, and Jen makes the most ambitious crossover joke ever. Jen and Noam discuss the only thing that happened this week - Donald Trump is officially going back to the White House. We don’t try to unpack all of the things because nobody needs to get in all of their takes in the first week but we give initial thoughts on what the election does and does not mean, how we don’t really have enough hard data to know the answer to that, jumping to conclusions based on confirmation bias, discussing policy vs vibes and emotions, what libertarian hell is, and the value of data driven arguments. We also touch on the pogram in Amsterdam that took place over the weekend and how it ties in to fears both rational and irrational about immigration and assimilation. Check us out Thursday nights at 7:30pm EST on Twitch. https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…

Noam and Jen spend this last episode before the election discussing the intricacies of the popular anime Neon Genesis: Evangelion, how its themes refer back to the Old Testament, and the value of subjugating one's personal desires to the greater good. Nah, just kidding. They discuss the accusation leveled by Nate Silver and Nate Cohn that the 2024 general election polls are the victim of herding, which is the desire to not stand out from the crowd by publishing polling results that would be perceived as outliers to…well there are a lot of reasons they get into. They briefly discuss Trump’s last week of campaigning and what the hell it means, from dump trucks to mic stands to Liz Cheney. Stick around to the end of the pod for Noam’s truly heterodox opinion about what electoral outcome would be best for America and whether he and Jen will attend the post-election pink keffiyeh protest. Jen and Noam discuss the decision made by…well not the employees of the Washington Post to not endorse a candidate this election cycle and their disagreements on the importance of it, their agreement that Israel’s strike on Iran’s long range missile and drone manufacturing plants is very important for both the situation in the Middle East and in Ukraine, whether Trump’s chat with Rogan will be important and why, the importance of encouraging your supporters to go vote, and Noam recommends the film Strange Darling because it is important to enjoy entertainment that isn’t politics. Noam and Jen discuss the dispatching of Yahya Sinwar to the next realm, the deification of him by Western idiots, bricks of cash, Birkin bags, and the hypocrisy of “freedom fighting” while wearing luxury cologne. They also discuss the abysmal state of election polling and why it’s like that now. Jen tries to interest Noam in discussing impromptu dance parties and Arnold Palmer’s man junk, but he is way too over the election news cycle. We will be back to streaming this week! Hooray! Jen and Noam wade into Ta-Nehisi Coates’ wading into the Israeli - Palestinian conflict, Noam compares Coates to an etrog (look that up kids), the CBS struggle session, human safaris, Harry Truman, Jeffery Epstein, the ongoing back and forth at the Israel - Lebanon border, how the UN just sucks so bad, when and how Israel will attack Iran, the alleged beef between Team Biden and Team Harris, a side tangent on polling, Sabermetrics, and Love Is Blind DC. Noam and Jen start the pod discussing the one year anniversary of the 10/7 massacre in Israel and where the various wars stand now, the rather hilarious update on Israel’s penetration of Hezbollah’s communications, the lies circulating about the aftermath of hurricane Helene, AI imagery, the misinformation economy, thoughts on the revised indictment of Trump on the 2020 election stealing scheme, and Noam constructs a perfect answer to the question of “did Trump lose the 2020 election” that no Republican can say out loud. We will not be streaming this week because, but we will be back next week. Check us out Thursday nights at 7:30pm EST on Twitch! https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…

Jen and Noam discussed last week’s events the way a four-year-old eats; we mashed everything together on the plate and consumed it. From the Trump - Harris debate to Haitians not eating cats in Ohio (or anywhere else apparently), turning eating the dogs and eating the cats into a meme, another crazy person trying to assassinate Trump, and Laura Loomer looming over the Trump campaign. Ambitious Crossover Attempt

Noam and Jen discuss notable conservative podcasters / YouTubers getting busted taking Russian money, the silliness of the “I was deceived!” defense, who is getting a better ROI on their disruption spending, the Tucker / Darryl Cooper interview, the absolute silliness of the idea that the origins and motivations of the players in WWII are simply unknowable and open to interpretation, the collapse of the trust in media and established facts, the idea that you can decide to learn whatever you want to learn about, how garbage TwitX has become and what to make of that in light of the week’s revelations about Russian influence in American political discourse. And we managed to doo all that without a digression into WWI history. I know, we’re proud too. We will be back to streaming this week hopefully, barring any lingering illnesses or other catastrophes. Noam and Jen enjoy the relative calm of the past week, where the most controversial take was Walz’s taco recipe. They (well at least Jen) enjoyed that there was an actual discussion about economic policy despite it being price controls vs tariffs, Vance is still weird not for the stuff he did in high school and college, the upcoming DNC, a Taylor Lorenz Minute!, and Natasha Frost doxxing Jews for no good reason. Vance is confronted with his own statements, and the Normies start to realize that conservatives are weird. Noam and Jen ONCE AGAIN have to preempt a whole week’s worth of news to discuss breaking news, this time to discuss Biden’s announcement that he is dropping out of the presidential race (but not resigning) and endorsing Kamala Harris to be the nominee. We give our initial thoughts on Biden’s bow out, where this leaves the pundit class, how this changes the view of the RNC and Trump’s speech, Biden making himself a lame duck president, who’s on first, the geopolitical angle of needing to know who’s on first, and we snuck in a little discussion about Trump’s would-be assassin and the curious incuriosity of everyone on this topic. Jen and Noam once again have to preempt a whole week’s news due to the news of an attempted assassination of Trump. We discuss what we don’t know (and may never know) about the motive for the shooting, The Picture, the weirdness of an assassination attempt being a crime of opportunity, what Trump may or may not have learned from his near-death experience, the perils of assigning iconography too soon, how Noam thought the Pentagon had Iron Dome, the randomness of reality, and briefly on Vance being officially named as Trump’s VP pick. Noam and Jen start with the SCOTUS presidential immunity decision (the real news of the week) and Trump already testing the boundaries of the ruling before we move to basically ripping the press to shreds for being a bunch of unserious clout-chasing hacks (except for Alex Thompson) when it comes to the topic of Biden dropping out of the presidential race, our hatred of unnamed sources, Jen’s overall hatred for the political press, and how everyone on the Resistance Left now being A/V experts. Jen and Noam discuss The Debate, the Debate Discourse, is it cynical for the press to want to yeet Biden into the sun, does Biden yeet himself from the race, the other guy that was at the debate, where does Kamala fit into this conversation, the importance of a good VP pick, who is Trump gonna pick as his running mate, and will we be talking about any of this in a week. Ambitious Crossover Attempt has a Twitch channel! Hooray! More streaming for us (and you)! But not this week (probably) due to the holiday, but we stream on Thursday nights at 7:30 pm EST. https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…

Noam and Jen kick off the official beginning of Election Season by giving our pre-debate thoughts, Jen shares her doubts on if this debate will happen as planned, how Trump is basically the luckiest SOB ever, Jen makes a HotD joke that spirals into a discussion on monarchical succession, how “anti-Zionism” reached new lows, a brief history of Israel-related animal conspiracy theories, and a bit of a Taylor Lorenz Minute. Ambitious Crossover Attempt has a Twitch channel! Hooray! More streaming for us (and you)! We will not be livestreaming the debate for several reasons, the main one being we are Old and don’t want to but maybe we’ll sneak a stream in because there is plenty to talk about on that front too. https://www.twitch.tv/ambitiousxover…

Noam and Jen spend the whole episode discussing K-pop and anime. Just kidding. They spend the entire episode discussing the breaking news that four hostages taken from the Nova music festival were found and rescued by the IDF, including Noa Argamani. From the news itself to the operation that resulted in the freeing of the hostages, and of course, the reactions to the news both online and from mainstream media outlets, they go over what we know so far.
