Have you ever thought about the Popular Evangelical Women’s Ministry in America today? Do you read books by female ministers, attend their "bible" studies, and sold-out conferences? Do you ever wonder if these produce the maturity they claim to encourage? Perhaps you have spent hours reading books and attending conferences and feel no more mature in your Christian walk than you did 5, 10, or even 20 years ago? Or maybe you're a discerning woman who understands that there is something wrong but can’t put your finger on it or articulate why there seems to be a problem. Thoroughly Equipped is a podcast for women-centered on Sola Scriptura. This is the doctrine that the Scriptures are all we need for salvation and spiritual living. They are God-breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness so the man or woman of God may be... not a little, not even a lot, but THOROUGHLY/COMPLETELY equipped for EVERY good work. This podcast takes the popular Evangelical Women’s ministry teachings, books, podcasts, conferences, "bible" studies, etc., and compares them to Scripture. The purpose of which is to show just how sufficient Scripture is to equip us to be Godly women.

Is the way we have seen, trained, and determined someone to be spiritual derived from Scripture or from mysticism? A lot of the popular examples of someone being spirit filled points us to people who have extraordinary experiences and witness supernatural signs and wonders. These are a sign that one has a deep relationship with God. And that relationship developed with continued personal supernatural experiences. These are the starting points to the relationship and are continually sought after to maintain or develop that relationship. These personal experiences are how people gauge they are intimate with God or, as people also say spiritual/spirit filled and led (aka are spiritual). But what does Scripture say about spirituality? What does the Spirit lead one to do when they are filled by Him? What does the Spirit filled/led person look like according to Scripture? When I came across the speakers and worship leaders set to present at Gather25, I had to put together a rough episode to expose the ministries/churches that are being propped up by Gather25 as those "being used of God" to advance His kingdom. Are those presented at this global church gathering an example of men and women who submit to Christ's headship over the church? Spiritual Disciplines and this idea of "practicing the way" of Jesus is quickly becoming a large movement with in the Evangelical church today. How are these teachings entering the local churches and who are the Spiritual directors that are seen as the Masters of "spiritual" formation? What are some of the dangerous doctrines that these teachers believe that may lead undiscerning women to fall for an walk in? In this episode I had the honor of having Marcia Montenegro of Christian Answers for the New Age ( https://www.christiananswersnewage.com/ ) on to help us get to know these so called Spiritual Masters. She goes into some of the problematic teachings they hold to and how mysticism directed the earlier "masters" and is now influencing today's modern "masters". What is Mysticism? What is Christian Mysticism? Is it compatible with the Gospel? Or does it teach a different path to God? In this episode we look at what Christian Mysticism teaches about the nature of God, the nature of man, the nature of sin, and the nature of salvation and compare it to the Gospel. Is it truly Christian and what are the dangers to Christian women should they go down the mystic path? May this episode expose the false teaching entering the church and bring glory to God. Teachers of Spiritual Formation inform Christians that implementing certain disciplines will help know God, experience Him, and hear His voice. They teach that these practices will help us grow spiritually because we become more intimate with God through them; that by them we "restore" our relationship with God. But is this all true? Does Scripture teach that we need these disciplines to become intimate with God and do we grow spiritually by practicing them? And what might happen to a woman's faith in Christ and His word if she decides to trust that these will bring her to into a deeper relationship with God and "enjoy Jesus"? At the 2020 IF:Gathering Conference Sadie Robertson Huff was assigned to give a message on Romans 8:39. In the message she urges women to keep themselves from getting distracted by "turning" to observe what God is doing in other people's lives. That, instead, they should be focusing on what God is doing in their lives. Why? Because God is building their testimony, and their testimony has the power to change hearts. Is this true? Do our testimonies have power? Is John 21 informing us that "turning" to ask Jesus what He is doing in other people's lives will cause us to "miss out" on "the reckless love God is chasing us" with? Does Scripture warn us against this? Is even what Romans 8:39 is about? May this episode expose the false teaching entering the church and bring glory to God. While "sensual" is often used in a sexual context, it is not exclusively sexual in meaning. Sensual has to do with the 5 senses, and means "physically pleasing". Messages within women's ministry has become more and more sensual to spark the emotions of women. Feeling loved is more important than knowing truth. And Ann Voskamp's message at the IF:Gathering 2020 conference was a perfect example of making use of the eyes, ears, and emotions to concoct a message meant to entice the senses and tickle the ears. But how did Ann Voskamp handle Romans 8:32 in her message? May this episode expose the false teaching entering the church and bring glory to God. Bianca Olthoff warned the audience at the 2020 IF:Gathering Conference to be on guard for what God wanted to do in their lives. To help them with this, she taught that Paul, in Romans 8:31-37, wanted us to know that we possess a power that makes us more than conquerors. Is it important for us to be on guard for what God wants to do in our life, or we will be stuck in the wilderness not receiving our victory? Is it true that we "posses power" to fight and conquer? How are we more than conquerors according to the Apostle Paul? How did Bianca Olthoff handle Scripture? May this episode expose the false teaching entering the church and bring glory to God. Scripture often talks about the great hope a Christian has when they put their faith in Jesus Christ. Paul, in Romans 8:18-30, reminds us of this great hope to encourage us during times of suffering and weakness. At the IF:Gathering 2020 conference, Ruth Chou-Simons gave a message on Romans 8: 24-28 to talk about our hope as well. But did she urge us to hope in the same thing Paul encouraged the Roman Christians to hope in? Did Ruth Chou-Simons handle this text correctly? Let's find out. At the 2020 IF:Gathering Conference Jo Saxton was tasked with giving a message from Romans 8:14-17. From it she taught that we were set free and adopted to receive an inheritance as children of God. But what does she say we were set free from, and what are we to receive in our inheritance? Does it match up with what Paul teaches in Romans 8:14-17? Discerning the IF:Gathering; in this part of the series we dive into the 2020 Conference where each speaker was assigned a portion of Romans 8 to give a message on. This was the perfect opportunity to see how these teachers handle Scripture. For this episode we are reviewing the first message given by Jada Edwards on Romans 8:1-4 about God fulfilling our greatest need. Did she exegete the text? Did she correctly portray our problem and give the Gospel as our solution? Did she talk about Jesus? Let's find out. *Updated episode from season 2 Jennie Allen's IF:Gathering is a ministry for women hoping to "reclaim discipleship as God's means by which He changes the world". What is discipleship? What is the goal of discipleship according to Scripture? Is God's goal for discipleship to make world changers? What does discipleship empower women to do? What tools does one use to equip women for discipleship? Let's answer these questions by diving into Scripture. This is the first episode of the IF:Gathering series as we discern whether what is taught within this ministry is the same as what Scripture calls women to do.
