We're Still Spinning: We are two entertainment PR specialists that have spent the last 20 years of our lives manufacturing mainstream headlines from the taint of society (the media machine) and would now like to dedicate the next chapter of our careers to dissecting our collective newsfeeds through a delightfully ruthless (and very qualified) PR lens. Brand apologies, celebrity statements, new products that aim to disrupt but mostly just disturb...we talk (tawk) about it all.

(Recorded - 4/10/25) - Welcome back to your favorite podcast hosted by America's Favorite PR Team. This week, we are joined by esteemed American journalist and creative visionary Darian Symoné Harvin of STUDIO SYMONÉ, to discuss the latest news headlines and dissect the PR agendas behind them. First, the German-based blender heard (hated?) around the world puts out a PR statement following its violent use in the hit HBO series White Lotus: Season 3. We swiftly move to news about the Trader Joe's Mini Pastel Tote Bag drop and the immediate resell market on eBay for upwards of $2,000. Next, we look at the Essence.com article about Topicals and its holding company acquiring Bread hair care and the interview with Olamide Olowe, President Sochi Mbadugha, and Bread Founder Maeva Heim. Lastly, Prada buys Versace for 1.4 billion USD, citing that "Made in Italy" is a movement. Is that prophecy or PR statement? We dig into all of it on this episode of We're Still Spinning. (And a reminder, please leave us 5 Stars if you are enjoying this show).…
(Recorded on 3/27/25) - We are America's Favorite PR team! For the first time on We're Still Spinning, we are welcomed by an EXTRA SPECIAL guest, American Journalist Sheila Yasmin Marikar (The New York Times, The New Yorker, etc). PR people and journalists can sometimes get along, and this chaotic episode is proof. We look into the PR crisis that is Disney's live-action remake of Snow White, we introduce improv role play to the show and do a scene of Disney PR calling Rachel Zegler's agent (allegedly and entertainment purposes only), and we pitch a PR plan for the movie's cast. Next, we joined the global group chat around the United States administration's wild misuse of the commercial "encrypted" app, Signal, putting our nation's security at high risk (don't blame Mercury in Retrograde...). Lastly, we give PR Kudos to Mike White's "White Lotus," and we pontificate on where Season 4 should take place and why. We have other gems sprinkled throughout this episode and hope that you like it. Please give us 5 stars and email us at stillspinningpod at gmail dot com if you have questions, comments, concerns, or wish to hire America's Favorite PR team for yourself.…
Recorded 3/13/25 - Sussex is Sussexing. We examine the latest plays in Meghan Markle/Sussex's PR rollout. How many peanut butter pretzels does it take to make you likable? We talk about it, and pitch our ideas for the forthcoming season two of her Netflix series. While in the royal kitchen, we talk about the royal PR mess that is Moms Across America vs. Girl Scout Cookies of America. 'MURICA! Within 5 minutes, we debunk the claims against the cookie company and give a real-time, immersive lesson in "media literacy" - AKA - don't believe everything you read. Nonetheless, the damage has been done. How can the Girl Scouts of America (ginger) snap back from this PR crisis? We pitch a naughty PR plan to retaliate against this news cycle. Next, we check-in on the highly orchestrated Hermes new cycle that started over 1 year ago with a fake (allegedly, entertainment purposes only) anti-trust lawsuit in San Francisco. We clocked this bizarre PR campaign on day 1 (thanks to a very unusual report by the Associated Press) and track it to the current headlines (business model) of Birkin dupes. Speaking of which, Donatella steps down from Versace, and Demna steps up for Gucci. A change of guard usually means trouble, what can these brands do to stay profitable in a climate where people can't buy eggs? We have a PR/product plan for them. Last, but never least, a new app is launching today in the UK. It is called "Touch Grass," and its goal is to force people to unplug from their phones and literally touch grass. The news broke in the US via CNET, and we have thoughts. Questions, comments, concerns, sponsorship - please email stillspinningpod at gmail dot com. And kindly leave us 5-stars if you're enjoying this unhinged entertainment news show.…
(Recorded 2/17/25) - America's Favorite PR team is back with a new episode. Following Disney's DEI cancellation, we take a look at the company's recent removal of the once-apologetic introduction card to its classic vault movies for the portrayal of Indigenous cultures and non-white ethnicities. Was the former intro card performative, or is this a brand evolution? Poppi "soda" also got itself into some hot Apple Cider Vinegar with its recent Super Bowl vending machine stunt. We talk about what went wrong with the brand's crisis communications plan and pitch a better way to use their Super Bowl funds. Next, airplanes are crashing daily. What does this mean for the aviation industry, and what can commercial airlines communicate to consumers amidst the tragic headlines? Lastly, Luigi Mangione took a page from the PR playbook of Justin Baldoni and launched a new website to communicate with his followers. Are websites the new notes app? We talk about it. (And please leave us 5 stars if you enjoy this show).…
(Recorded 2/6/25) - America's Favorite PR Team is back with a new episode of We're Still Spinning. In this episode, we discuss the introduction of a new PR play - launching a website of receipts to make your case in the court of public opinion. Who is guiding Baldoni now, and is it working? Where does Blake go from here? We touch on The Grammys and discuss the wildest theory about Bianca Censori that is in the ether. Then, we discuss the resurfaced tweets of Karla Sofía Gascón and her apology. Lastly, we pitch a rebrand for DEI to help all parties. If you enjoy this show, please leave us FIVE stars!…
(Recorded on 1/7/25) - In this episode, we continue to monitor Meghan She-Dropped-The-Markle's PR image journey. She made her return to Instagram and launched a new Netflix Series with a notable trailer to boot. Where is she going with her public persona, and is it working? We talk about it. We then discuss Allison Holker's recent press push for her book, which appeared to hinge on disclosing her late husband's secrets. We recorded this episode before Allison's follow-up statement, which ended up being exactly what we predicted it would be...and then...we circle back to Justin vs. Blake. Part 1 of this saga was our most listened-to episode of 2024. Lastly, we solve the origin of Walmart's Wirkin Bag as part of our ongoing coverage of Hermes and its PR attempts to become profitable again.…
Hello again, did you miss us? America's Favorite PR team is back from an unexpected hiatus (blame it on the timeline shift), and now we are diving into the last 6 weeks of this simulation we call Life on Earth. The election, the aliens, Luigi, Jay Z, Coachella's record early presale to try to save the festival, etc...we talk about it all through our usual EXCEPTIONAL PR lens. And we, of course, look at some 2025 cultural forecasting and explore how brands need to speak to consumers moving forward to stay alive. Thank you for listening!…
We are America's Favorite PR team. This week, we discuss the roll-out of self-driving cars and ways in which they can cultivate trust with the consumer. This brings us to the question, "To robot, or NOT to robot?" - and we look at Etsy's recent communications push towards "Keep Commerce Human." We get it, and we have some questions. Next, McDonald's has been in the press this week, and it's safe to bet...they aren't Lovin' It (oop!). We look at their negative news cycle and internal communications statements and forge a path for them. Lastly, Diddy's children put out a joint PR statement. We take a close look and reveal the larger strategy at hand.…
This is We're Still Spinning, a news-based show hosted by America's Favorite PR team. News about the tragic passing of Liam Payne broke shortly before we hit record for this episode, and we talk about TMZ's coverage in real time. Next, Ari Lennox announced her plans to leave social media permanently to focus on her personal growth and maturity. We look at her statement and discuss the implications for her career and the broader industry. Next, Bath & Body Works recently released and recalled a "Snowed In" candle that Reddit deemed a "Klandle" - for its uncanny resemblance to a traditional Ku Klux Klan white robe. We look at the PR statement around this recall and pitch our version of crisis comms. Lastly, Disneyland & Disney World raised its prices 3x in 18 months and just now launched a new add-on. For approximately $400 on top of the cost of admission ($225), you can skip the lines. What would Walt say?…
This episode addresses the recent investigation into Naomi Campbell's nonprofit expenses. How many cigarettes can you buy with 1 million US dollars? We discuss the release of Will & Harper and forecast its influence on the nationwide trans conversation. The CEO of Weight Watchers (WW), Sima Sistani, was recently forced out of the company. We look at the news cycle around it and talk about how WW moved forward in a climate that is anti-diet culture and riddled with trigger warnings. Lastly, we talk about Moo Deng and come up with a PR campaign centered around the internet sensation that just might save the planet. (And if you like this show, please leave us 5 stars!).…
In this episode, we look at the PR fallout around Diddy and examine TikTok theories around his connections to 50 Cent and Jay Z. We also look into the recent resignation of 23andMe's entire board behind the personal genomics and biotechnology company that sources and stores the DNA of its customers. Also in tech headlines this week, OpenAI's Sam Altman teams up with Apple's longtime design lead, Jony Ive, and the late wife of Steve Jobs to form the next gen of smart technology...2 days later, OpenAI's CTO resigns along with two other top executives. What's the tea? We touch on Janet Jackson's reaffirmation of Donald Trump's claims about Kamala Harris' race, specifically that Ms. Harris is "not Black." Lastly, we reexamine Chappell Roan's trajectory and highlight a timely PR moment between Eve and Nicki Minaj.…
In this episode, our weekly "cold open" inadvertently becomes...the episode. We look at race (and racism) in America through the lens of current news and headlines, and as black and white co-hosts of this show, we have a completely unplanned, un-edited and unfiltered conversation about the black and white female experience in the United States of America in 2024, and where we go from here. (We talk about Diddy, too, obviously).…
We are back after a one-week hiatus, and there is no shortage of PR crises and clownery. We cover the recent media highlights and try to uncover the motivations and next steps for all parties with our combined 40+ years of PR expertise. Buckle up, pop a "DRAMAmine"...the PR library is open.
In this week's episode, we explore the recent news cycle around Brittany Mahomes and the PR choices she is making to address her engagement with a Donald Trump post. Spoiler alert: She's always been this girl who claps back...loudly...to the masses. Now that her fame is elevated from the Taylor Swift halo effect, does Brittany Mahomes have more to lose? Or is she the next Harrison Butker? In the spirit of fame, we look at Jools Lebron and her forecasted 15 minutes...which could be closer to 12 if she keeps making the same joke with brands like Lyft. Should she secure the bag while she can? Or should she try to make a meal from her 15 Minutes of Fame and push for something more sustainable? Lastly, we look at the curious case of Jimmy Donaldson. AKA, MrBeast. He is arguably the antithesis to "15 Minutes of Fame" - but can his empire survive its current Internet attack?…
In this episode, we examine Donald Trump's recent use of AI to create an unauthorized candidacy endorsement from Taylor Swift. It kind of reminds us of the movie CLUELESS when 'Cher' sends herself flowers and accepts them in front of a room of people she is hoping to impress and influence. We look at the media coverage around this news item, noting that outlets are choosing NOT to include the AI images in their coverage. We explain why that is and propose ways for media to include AI images that are relevant to the articles without risking the spread of misinformation or other legal recourse. And more importantly, what should Taylor Swift do about this? And will we see her on a political stage between now and November 5th? Should we? Like that time Beyonce took the stage with Hillary in 2016. Speaking of Beyonce...SirDavis Whisk(e)y represents the latest effort of the People's Queen B to create a legacy product after over a dozen attempts that never fully made it into the zeitgeist. Why is she doing this, and will this product be "the one" for her? We discuss. Lastly, The Would-Be Greatest Love Story Never Told comes to a full-circle end with Jlo filing for divorce from Ben on their wedding anniversary. It turns out that we are move invested than we thought.…
In this episode, we focus on the PR swirls surrounding "This Ends With Us," specifically relating to Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. What was Justin's process of hiring a crisis comms expert, and why did he do it? Does he still need one? How did the PR tables turn on Blake Lively, and how does she get out of this entanglement? (Which is arguably her first PUBLIC PR crisis). Who will help her now? We have an educated guess...! What really happened on set and during the press tour? (We also examine Blake's birth chart to forecast her outcome and suggest PR tactics inspired by her astrology to help her exit the current PR shit storm). This is the first time we, the hosts, let ourselves fall into a PR war room, as we strongly disagree on this situation and its various paths forward.…
Welcome back to "We're Still Spinning," your NEW(ish) favorite podcast where 2 very seasoned, semi-anon PR professionals scroll through the latest headlines to reveal the hidden agendas, brand strategies, and overall chaos of the media machine. And most importantly, we help explain how it all affects YOU. In this episode, we look at the misinformation case of the allegedly (but not) transgender Olympic boxer, Imane Khelif, and the dangerous news cycle swirl that ensued. (With the help of Elon Musk, J.K. Rowling, and Italy's Prime Minister, Giorga Meloni). This naturally brings us to our show's first official "Media Literacy Moment" - an educational interlude on how to know whether or not to believe what you're reading. We then stay on the topic of the Olympics and anti-gay/trans narratives and look at the PR statement put out by the Vatican, one whole week after the opening ceremony of the Olympics that left Catholics and Christians in a Last Supper kerfuffle. We then move to a lighter course of headline news and revisit the Curious Case of Ben and Jen. They didn't try to bury a divorce announcement the day Biden withdrew from the 2024 Presidential Race...so what is happening in the Bennifer PR Camp? Lastly, the biggest headline of the week...Hello, My Name is Tim Walz. There has been a PR timeline shift with the Democratic Party, and we speculate on who is behind it.…
Buckle up. The news cycle hath giveth us many a PR crisis since our last episode. After pulling the curtain back on the day-in-the-life of a PR girlie during our weekly "cold open" - we look at the recent release of Down Syndrome and blind Barbie via Mattel, plus the recent comments about Spongebob Square Pants' autism. We share thoughts about representation through children's toys and content. Then, we swiftly move to the religious outrage over a brief moment in the Opening Ceremony at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Blue/black dress or white/gold dress...Last Supper or Greek God Dionysus? We talk about it through a PR lens. Lastly, news broke that Donald Trump is going to appear at the National Association of Black Journalists Convention (NABJ) in Chicago this week. We ask why, and we (the hosts) disagree on the answer.…
Following the historic election drop-out of President Biden, a newly rebranded campaign slogan ("Let's finish the job" to "Let's WIN this!")...and some unexpected line-drops into internet culture, VP Kamala Harris is on deck for the 2024 democratic nomination. We look into the PR shifts she is implementing at speeds unknown to the painfully slow town of DC, and we forecast the outcome based on the PR trajectory (and some light tarot, of course).…
What a time to be alive! This week, we talk about a possible "PR Kumbaya" moment between Biden and Trump following the assassination attempt. It involves an unexpected roast/debate hybrid that would break barriers. Speaking of roasts and jokes...Tenacious D broke up! Over a 1-liner comment. We look at PR statements that were made and speculate as to why a whole tour was cancelled. Lastly, people in Miami are pissed following not having access to their high-priced ticketed seats at the recent Copa America Final. This is a PR nightmare for Ticketmaster - we pitch a path forward.…
In this episode, we get personal and talk about some unforeseen political discoveries in our daily routines. Then we discuss George Clooney's recent New York Times Op-Ed, which calls for Joe Biden to step out of the race, only one month after George Clooney co-hosted a major fundraiser for Biden in Los Angeles. How curious. While in Los Angeles, we look at the Skydance acquisition of Paramount, PR statements that were made, and ideas that could make "Paramount+" a thing. Lastly, writer/creative/performer Lena Dunham bowed out of directing/writing Mattel's Polly Pocket movie earlier this week, after 3 years of workshopping the story. We look at her PR statement and pitch ideas for a director replacement.…
In this episode, we discuss media fallout from the recent Presidential Debates and look at the PR tactics on each side of the election. Personal political opinions aside, we look at the PR playbooks of why some strategies are resonating, and some are flopping like a dick at the end of a very long night of drinking. (Did that get your attention?). Where does our country go from here? How can we move forward with the collapse of journalism? Is my passport valid?…
(REPOST FROM YESTERDAY) - We drank a bottle of Veuve and smoked California weed before recording this gem of an episode. We are two, long-time, PR professionals...who scroll through the news feed and current headlines to dissect media agendas, project outcomes and pitch mini PR plans in real-time. This week, we discuss Power Women and bounce between their recent newsbreaks. This leads us to question the appeal of accents, and the current cultural uprise of Paris, France. Lastly, we have a message for Dairy Queen. (And there might be some thoughts on tonight's Presidential Debate...).…
JLo, we can't quit you. We do a quick hit on how Ben and Jen will roll out their seemingly imminent divorce announcement, then pitch J-Timberlake thoughts on how to publicly address his recent arrest. It involves a dick. And a box. While in the Empire State, we move from the Hamptons to Long Island and look at the recent lawsuit filed against Cold Stone Creamery for...lack of pistachios in their pistachio ice cream. Speaking of people that should make their own ice cream, we talk about the Tradwife movement and the recent claims against Nara Smith. Lastly, is Michael Jackson's music having a sharp uptick? We think so, and we pontificate as to why...and pitch a Hollywood Studio on how to capitalize.…
In this episode, we revisit our theory about Hermes' fake law suit against itself to boost sales. Our case is strengthening, y'all...we then discuss today's launch of Fenty Hair. Is Rihanna's relationship with her fans becoming too one-sided? Is Fenty Hair in too close of proximity to Beyonce and Tina's Cécred? Is there room for both? With fans buy either? We then carefully discuss the news leak about Shiloh Jolie dropping "Pitt," - and we do a PR rewind to discuss the PR around Brad's split with Jennifer and the ramifications of his life with Angelina.…
In this episode, we address the latest press cycle around Caitlin Clark, and the Venn diagram of racism, sexism and sports. Should the WNBA interject? We swiftly move to recent headlines surrounding Hunter Biden's trial. What is the real agenda? And does the GOP only care about gun control issues when it's about President Joe Biden's son? Lastly, we find a way to connect the WNBA with our Presidential election and if votes even matter at this point.…
In this week's episode, we discuss the Trump verdict and its influence on the future of the United States of America. Does this outcome change anything? Does ANYTHING change anything? We look at some PR ideas on how to recharge tolerance and unity in the USA. Our conversation then sails to Cannes, France, to look at the news coming out of the recent Film Festival, specifically Kelly Rowland's experience with an on-site security guard and the implications of harmful headlines. Lastly, AMC's CEO recently disclosed that the movie exhibitor nearly botched their deal with Beyonce's Reinassance film. Unsure of why AMC would publicly admit this, we look at the PR decisions that were made.…
In this episode, we very quickly touch on JLo's pursuit of a Crisis PR team and Diddy's recent apology video, offering each of them free PR plans. Then, we kick-off the main event of our show with a recap of Harrison Butker's college commencement speech and Red Lobster's recent bankruptcy filings (and offer Red Lobster a brilliant PR plan to keep their brand equity alive). Lastly, Nestlé just announced the launch of "Vital Pursuit" - a new line of frozen meals that are made for folks taking a GLP-1 (Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, etc). #healthychoices…
In this episode, we talk about the recent, very short-lived ads by Bumble that attempt to make women ditch celibacy for the dating app. This brings us to "What makes something funny in 2024?" and how the Tom Brady Roast defied the laws of humor in today's culture. Although Ben Affleck was looking toasted at the roast. We look at his brand in relation to JLo and her PR choices. And they are choices. Lastly, we discuss the news today from across the pond. McDonald's in the UK announced the removal of the "smile" on their Happy Meal boxes. Will their reason have you frowning?…
