In this episode, we delve into the concept of being "qualified" in the workplace, examining who gets labeled as such, who doesn't, and the underlying reasons. We explore "competency checking"—the practice of scrutinizing individuals' abilities—and how it disproportionately affects underrepresented groups, often going unnoticed or unchallenged. Our discussion aims to redefine qualifications in a fair, equitable, and actionable manner. Our guest, Shari Dunn , is an accomplished journalist, former attorney, news anchor, CEO, university professor, and sought-after speaker. She has been recognized as Executive of the Year and a Woman of Influence, with her work appearing in Fortune Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, Ad Age, and more. Her new book, Qualified: How Competency Checking and Race Collide at Work , unpacks what it truly means to be deserving and capable—and why systemic barriers, not personal deficits, are often the real problem. Her insights challenge the narratives that hold so many of us back and offer practical solutions for building a more equitable future. Together, we can build workplaces and communities that don’t just reflect the world we live in, but the one we want to create. A world where being qualified is about recognizing the talent and potential that’s been overlooked for far too long. It’s not just about getting a seat at the table—it’s about building an entirely new table, one designed with space for all of us. The conversation takes a hilarious turn when astrology is compared to fashion, sparking memories of a supposedly “yellow” dress…or was gold? We get candid about his dating history, including being a top in a past relationship and the discussion takes a turn when we bring up “boyfriend dick?" It’s a no-holds-barred debate about sexual roles and preferences in relationships. Kyle reveals that he hasn’t been in a relationship for a long time and that his time in LA has shifted his views on love and commitment and confesses to taking a two-year celibacy journey post-breakup and shares how his career now takes priority over fatherhood. We offer our take on dating in the public eye and men with hidden agendas. Beyond astrology, Kyle is making waves in the entertainment world, teasing a confidential TV development deal and shares his goals of publishing internationally and expanding his brand beyond astrology. In Haute Topics we chat about Julia Haart’s massive divorce settlement, joking about her newfound riches and luxurious furs. They we tear into Balenciaga’s latest bizarre fashion statement—the “Barefoot Zero shoe”, questioning whether it’s even a shoe at all. Our Runway Rundown looks include Adrien Brody’s emerald, green tuxedo and Nicholas Alexander Chavez’s maroon disaster, likening it to something out of an 80s porn set. Of course we add in a look from Kyle. Was it a hit or a miss? We debate tailoring, shoe choices, and what makes a red carpet look truly iconic. In the second half of Kyle’s coffee reading for Kyle, his grounds reveal a mysterious figure with the letter "A" still lingering in his life. Could it be an old flame or someone from the past waiting to reconnect? As Kyle processes this revelation, he admits to occasionally reaching out to past lovers—but will this be one he welcomes back? This week on we welcome back celebrity astrologer Kyle Thomas for part two of our cosmic deep dive! The fun kicks off with jokes about how Kyle has read the astrological charts of nearly everyone in Hollywood, setting the tone for a hilarious yet insightful conversation. Kyle opens about growing up in Wisconsin as the oldest of three brothers, one of whom is also gay. He shares his journey from running a Chicago-based production company to becoming one of the most sought-after astrologers in the industry. A Taurus and a self-proclaimed workaholic, his fascination with astrology began at the age of eight, fueled by a love for mythology, ancient civilizations, and the mysteries of the universe. He says astrology is both an art and a science, a tool to empower rather than predict and recalls how early astrologers told him he’d marry twice—spoiler alert: it never happened. Instead, Kyle believes we shape our own destinies, and astrology helps illuminate the best path forward. Reflecting on his big move from Chicago to LA, a decision sparked by major life losses—his production company, friendships, and a romantic partner. At rock bottom financially, he turned to writing astrology content online, which went viral and led to massive opportunities, including his current role at People Magazine. But while his career has soared, Kyle admits that finding love has been more challenging. Enter Pol’ and his Armenian coffee cup reading As Kyle takes a sip, the coffee grounds spill some jaw-dropping revelations. Two major career breakthroughs are on the horizon—one leading to another—and an unexpected connection could reshape his future. But the real shocker? Pol’ sees that Kyle’s future partner is already in his life… he just hasn’t realized it yet! And just when Kyle thought he was calling the shots in his love life, Pol’ turns the tables with another bombshell: someone from Kyle’s past is still deeply in love with him. Could it be an ex who recently reappeared? Kyle shuts it down fast, insisting he won’t settle for a connection that doesn’t feel right. So, is Kyle’s true love just around the corner? Is an old flame about to reignite? And what other secrets are hidden in his coffee grounds? Is Kyle’s True Love Written in the Stars… or in His Coffee Cup? ✨ It’s a must-listen (and must-watch on YouTube) as astrology collides with the ancient Armenian coffee grounds reading! ✨ This is another Hurrdat Media and American Media Television Production. This week is part one with reality TV icon Teresa Giudice in a candid, unfiltered deep-dive and whirlwind tour through her life on and off screen. From our first moments—debating the proper way to pronounce “Ju-dice” versus “Ju-dee-jay”— We establish a playful, offbeat vibe that sets the tone for raw honesty, humor, and insight. Teresa opens about her 17-year journey on TV—that has seen her transition from a hesitant mom of three into the most recognized face of the Housewives franchise. She recounts how signing on to the show wasn’t an immediate decision. “It took almost a year to sign the contract,” she admits, reflecting on her initial confusion and uncertainty about what the venture would truly entail and caught in the windstorm of fame, family drama, and unexpected twists. Over a lively Armenian Coffee ritual—complete with humorous instructions on how to flip the cup and playful banter she reveals how fame magnified personal challenges and touches on how the pressures of being a housewife on TV accelerated inevitable family tensions and transformed her personal life. With trademark candor, she details how her family was drawn into the spotlight, sometimes against her wishes, and how even close relationships became complicated by the behind-the-scenes maneuvers of producers and casting calls. Teresa shares intimate details about her past relationships, contrasting the shallow excitement of her previous marriage with the profound connection she now enjoys with her current partner, Louie. She describes him as her “twin flame,” a partner who truly supports and understands her—a stark contrast to the lackluster passion of her former relationship, which was marred by betrayal and financial missteps. Alongside amusing anecdotes about celebrity encounters (a nod to Kevin Costner’s charm and playful jabs at Jennifer Lopez), the discussion dives into life lessons learned from navigating the turbulent world of reality TV. Not one to shy away from practical advice, she offers tips for aspiring housewives and reality stars alike. She stresses the importance of financial independence, the need to scrutinize every contract, and the value of knowing every detail of your partner’s business affairs—reminding us that a public life often magnifies the personal. Additionally, she recounts her pre-TV career in the fashion industry, from working in Macy’s buying office at Herald Square to her ventures with Calvin Klein and Nine West, painting a picture of a multifaceted woman who has reinvented herself time and again. Throughout our conversation, the playful interplay between all of us provides both levity and depth. The humorous take on everything from coffee rituals to celebrity gossip underscores a deeper narrative: the complex, layered reality behind the glamorous persona as she reflects on the lasting influence of her immigrant upbringing, her close bond with her late parents, and the indelible mark her early life has left on her, we are treated to an intimate portrait of resilience, reinvention, and raw authenticity. Get ready to sip your coffee, flip your cup, and dive into the heart, humor, and hard-won wisdom of Teresa Giudice on this unforgettable episode! In Part 2, Cassandra Cass returns with an unfiltered look into her life, perspectives, and personal journey. Kicking off with a conversation about the allure and varying standards of plastic surgery in Beverly Hills compared to other regions worldwide, she clarifies misconceptions, explaining that her transformation was less about becoming Jessica Rabbit and more about embracing her authentic self. Eager to expand her horizons, Cassandra shares her desire to join reality TV shows like The Amazing Race and Big Brother , believing that fashion isn’t just about style but reflects one’s intelligence and identity. Transitioning into “Hot Topics,” we delve into recent news, including a controversial bathroom ban for trans individuals in Odessa, Texas. Cassandra’s response is sharp and unapologetic; if she were asked to use the men’s restroom, she warns, husbands might need guarding. With a mix of humor and insight, she touches on the phobias and prejudices trans people often face, leading into a broader discussion on the fairness of trans athletes competing in women’s sports, acknowledging the backlash and complexity of the topic. In “Runway Rundown,” we critique celebrity fashion. First up is Zoe Saldana in a velvet dress; while none of them love the look, they agree that Zoe’s confidence makes it work. The conversation then shifts to Sabrina Carpenter, which receives unanimous disapproval, before closing with Cassandra’s own striking look in a Pol’ Atteu couture gown—a piece she recalls almost swapping with another model’s dress. Cassandra’s admiration for fashion and self-expression shines as she reflects on her own style evolution and the confidence she’s gained in her journey. In a powerful moment, Cassandra opens about her family and the decades it took for her father to accept her as transgender. Patrik and Pol prompt her to share the story behind her drag name and the impact of her drag mother. As they discuss loss and friendship, and she reveals her hard-earned boundary of walking away from relationships that don’t reciprocate and emphasizes the importance of valuing oneself and only keeping friends who bring positive energy. Cassandra humorously admits she spends more on achieving her “Jessica Rabbit” look than on her education, reminiscing about her journey and reflecting on the wisdom she’s gained. This intimate, empowering, and raw emotions captures Cassandra’s unwavering spirit and her dedication to authenticity, making it a must-listen for fans and newcomers alike. We end with the second half of Pol’ reading Cassandra’s coffee cup grounds and —a unique, insightful ritual that reveals Cassandra’s ongoing journey for acceptance, both with others and within herself. The reading brings out Cassandra’s vulnerability and growth, as she reflects on her abstinence, the joy of adopting a new cat, and her commitment to self-love. It’s part two of our unfiltered and wildly entertaining conversation with Frenchy Morgan. Kicking off with the always scandalous Haute Topics, we dive straight into Frenchy’s opinions on influencers, and she doesn’t hold back, stating that being an influencer is “too much work” for her, leading her to proudly share how she’s been banned from entire countries and social media for her unapologetic personality. From there, the conversation takes a hilarious turn when Frenchy explains how, if she were an influencer, she would monetize it in her unique way—likely involving her outrageous persona. We don’t stop at influencers, as we discuss her hidden talents and that she gets naked and goes on to reveal her love of dancing live, where anything can happen including a dance in a champagne glass—one of her lesser-known hidden talents and she surprisingly responds that she’s a skilled horse rider and surfer. As the conversation heats up, Frenchy shocks us by exposing her breasts showing us a trick she can do with a dollar bill and Pol’s scream echoes through the room as he’s caught off guard and compares the experience to a “shark attack,” while Frenchy revels in her ability to surprise and entertain. On a more serious turn we bring up the tragic story of an Olympic athlete set on fire by her ex-boyfriend and later died. It’s a collective horror of the incident, leading to a deeper discussion about domestic violence. Frenchy shares that she’s never personally been involved in domestic violence but heartbreakingly reveals that one of her friends was recently a victim, sparking a raw and emotional conversation about why some women stay in abusive relationships. Shifting gears, the group transitions into their Runway Rundown, where Pol, Patrik, and Frenchy critique celebrity fashion moments. From Lady Gaga’s velvet top with a cat mask to Taylor Swift’s floral gown and Frenchy’s iconic pink look, which she reveals is her bare skin exposed, with only pasties covering her breasts. It’s a no-holds barred Runway Rundown with a lot of laughs and playful roasting, but it’s clear the group is having fun and appreciating Frenchy’s boldness. As the episode progresses, the conversation turns to Frenchy’s past as a stripper and the story of a $25,000 tip and the wild tale that came with it. In contrast, she also shares the story of her lowest tip and the memorable circumstances surrounding that encounter. The energy stays high as the group plays a lightning round of questions. Frenchy shares her positive view on platforms like OnlyFans and non-gendered bathrooms, admitting that attending college wasn’t for her but standing firm that abortions should be legal in every state. Toward the end of the episode, Pol leads Frenchy through the second part of her emotional coffee reading, revealing that she’s been holding onto something buried deep in her heart. Frenchy listens intently and he gives her a method to bring it to the surface, urging her to contact him once the realization comes to her. Frenchy, moved by the reading, agrees with Pol’s insights, and the moment takes a profound turn when she shares how her late dog has been communicating with her from beyond the grave. This week we welcome our friend and fellow Jeff Lewis Radio Host, Doug Budin and he charms us as with a jar of his homemade tomato sauce, and Pol’ recalls cooking with his mother, leading to a deeper dive into Armenian cuisine, culinary roots and recipes and favorite spots in Los Angeles to find authentic ingredients. Doug shares some of his favorite dishes he learned to cook while in Sweden, which segues into his popular cooking show, Cook & Kibbitz, merging his love for food with his signature charm of conversation. He reveals the book Like Water for Chocolate inspires him in the kitchen and food holds emotional and cultural significance in his life. Teasing an exciting upcoming episode with a professional chef and looking forward to the collaboration and Doug announces a major milestone—he’s just signed a brand partnership for his cooking show! Shifting gears to the evolution of Cook & Kibbitz during the pandemic to pass the time. What started as a fun experiment turned into something much bigger after a personal betrayal from someone, which led him to take the show more seriously. He recounts the hilarious details of the original episode, cooking live, complete with mistakes and improvised moments. Jeff Lewis saw the episode online and inadvertently helped Doug’s show go viral by cyber-bullying him in jest, creating a buzz that Doug is surprisingly thankful for. As they continue a trip down memory lane, Doug reflects on cooking adventures and we see a different side of him when we learn he was a photographer’s assistant in his early years traveling the world and collecting different salts from every place he visited beginning his love of salt. He even shares a terrifying memory of being at the top of the Sydney Harbor Bridge, one of the most frightening moments of his life, and how it pushed him to his limits. Doug’s acting career and his time on Two Broke Girls, working closely with the iconic Jennifer Coolidge and delightful memories of doing stunts on set and playing a straight man takes center stage. His love for acting shines through as he reminisces about his first big break in Hollywood on Frasier, and we all share some behind-the-scenes stories about the ever-changing entertainment industry. We discuss working in the industry post-COVID and how the landscape of casting has dramatically shifted from in-person to self-taped auditions becoming the new norm. Doug stays optimistic, crediting his agents for helping him navigate his career and relishes in humorous stories of awkward auditions, including a time when he accidentally splashed water all over himself just before an important audition at Warner Brothers. The episode ends with a fascinating detour with the first half of his Armenian coffee reading, and Pol’ hints at unresolved issues that he faces each year, predicting that a major, unexpected project is on its way. Pol’ further reveals that Doug’s path has been cleared for new opportunities, but he still has work to do to fully open the door to these blessings. The reading ends on a hopeful note, with Doug feeling encouraged and ready for what’s to come, involving a wishbone, the next full moon and symbolically sealing his wishes and intentions for the future. It’s part two with Ryan Bailey to delve deeper into the complex world of reality television and the personal struggles that shape the lives of its stars. We kick off discussing with the connection between Scheana Shay’s grandparents and Patrik’s parents setting the stage for the deep bond we share with her and the Vanderpump Rules cast. We quickly move on to Haute Topics and first up in the Vanderpump universe: the infamous wedding preparations at Pol’s boutique, where Raquel / Rachel played a significant role and dthe dramatic build-up to the wedding, which many believed was the grand finale of the show, only to be blindsided by the later scandals. The conversation takes a turn into a behind-the-scenes analysis as we dive deep into the “Scandoval” drama, the ratings and how everything unfolded on the show. Ryan recounts a being at Coachella with the entire cast and how Tom and Ariana seemed utterly in love, a stark contrast to the affair that was happening behind the scenes. In a reflective turn, Pol laments the destruction of real friendships for the sake of reality TV ratings, questioning whether fleeting airtime is worth the long-term damage done to personal relationships. This segues into a heartfelt discussion about how the cast has been forced to stay intertwined in each other’s lives because of the show, even when it would have been healthier for them to grow apart. Shifting from reality TV drama to a more personal note, the group transitions into a deeply emotional discussion about loss, starting with Ryan’s journey through grief after the death of his mother and Patrik opens up about the complex feelings of grief when his own mother passed away, torn between gratitude that she was no longer suffering and the pain of missing her every day. Ryan echoes this sentiment, describing how challenging it was to witness his father cope with the loss of his mother and how he now helps his father with everyday tasks, like learning how to use the TV in her absence. We switch to lighter subjects, such as Ozempic and weight management, a topical subject given Ryan’s own reflections on how his grief led to emotional eating and a change in his physical health. Ryan admits that he’s pushed a lot of personal care aside as he dealt with his mother’s illness and subsequent passing, but he’s now ready to refocus on his health and well-being. As the episode nears its conclusion, Pol’ continues Ryan’s coffee reading which reveals exciting opportunities on the horizon and new career prospects, warning him not to let self-doubt get in the way. As we say our goodbyes, it’s clear that this episode wasn’t just another podcast for any of us—it was a space for real emotion, support, and understanding, a rare combination in the world of reality TV. She emphasizes the importance of these relationships, highlighting how they’ve become a significant part of her life beyond just professional connections. This revelation leads to a broader discussion about the nature of reality television and how it doesn’t truly reflect the reality it claims to portray. Another Haute topic of discussion is Candace Cameron Bure’s controversial statements about the “drag queen” at the Paris Olympics. Jodie acknowledges their sisterly bond but makes it clear that they have vastly different views, especially regarding LGBTQ+ rights and she expresses her unwavering support for the LGBTQ+ community, emphasizing that love and acceptance should be universal. She talks about how she reconciles her spirituality with the need to support and uplift marginalized communities, particularly the LGBTQ+ community. We also weigh in, discussing the complexities of maintaining friendships across different political and religious beliefs. Shifting gears, we take a lighter turn with Runway Rundown and critique the red carpet looks of celebrities Pink, Colman Domingo and Jodie herself! Jodie reflects on her late grandmother, a figure who played a significant role in her life and she shares poignant memories discussing how her presence is still felt in her life through small, meaningful signs like butterflies. This leads to an emotional coffee cup reading, where Pol’ interprets the symbols left in her cup, revealing a heart that symbolizes Jodie’s ongoing connection with her grandmother. Jodie’s emotional response highlights the depth of her bond with her grandmother, making this one of the most touching moments. As the episode draws to a close, the conversation circles back to fashion, her life as a Hallmark Movie Queen, new projects and taking on new adventures, including a directing opportunity she’s excited about. This decision turned out to be pivotal as his podcast quickly grew in popularity, eventually leading to a contract with a giant media company that propelled his show to new heights. We share our own podcasting experiences in the early days with AfterBuzz TV, before podcasts were popular.
