The publisher Scholastic has announced through social networks that the saga of The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins, will have a fifth title, "Sunrise on the reaping", which will be released on 18 March 2025.
In addition, the production company Lionsgate has announced that this instalment will also make the leap to the big screen, as it will be released in cinemas on 20 November 2026.
The new book will revisit the world of Panem 24 years before the original The Hunger Games, which came out in 2008, and 40 years after Collins' most recent book, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
The story will begin on a morning at the harvest of the 50th Hunger Games. That's where Haymitch Abernathy, played by Woody Harrelson in the original series, competed, known for mentoring Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark when they are chosen to represent District 12 in the 74th and 75th Hunger Games.
