How to get and stay on P.O.I.N.T. (Advent 10)

In order to become the kind of people we believe we should, we have to be intentional in reacting to stimuli. We have to stop being reactionary and get on P.O.I.N.T.

Pause: In the world of broadcasting, they often have a seven second delay, in order for them to “dump” or eliminate anything from going out over the air that should not. We need to pause before speaking or acting.

Observe: We need notice and pay attention to what we are thinking and feeling. Are we being driven by negative emotions such as anxiety, fear, or anger?

Interrupt: If we are being driven by negative thoughts and feelings we want to interrupt them. Tony Robbins once suggested saying “stop it” to ourselves- out loud.

Name: Name a new direction. Decide to replace a destructive or self destructive response with one more consistent with the outcome we desire.

Take It: Once we choose our new path, we have to take it. Go into action and change our response.
