“Whatever your hand finds to do, do with your might; for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going.”- Ecclesiastes 9:10

Steve Jobs pointed out that we spend a large portion of our lives working. This being the case he believed it was only possible for us to be truly satisfied when we do great work.

Jobs believed we can only do great work if we love what we do. I’m not sure everyone has the privilege of loving their work. But I do know that we can all be grateful for the work that puts food in our bellies, keeps a roof over our heads, and clothes on our back and helps us support the people and causes we love. Centering ourselves in gratitude propels us to do great work.

As Martin Luther King jr. said, “If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as a Michaelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, 'Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.”

Peace be with you.
