I believe that businesses that have highly effective leadership will outperform businesses that don’t. Unfortunately, leadership skills aren’t at the top of the list of things to learn when starting a business. Even the professional organizations I’m part of will focus on the regulatory side of things, bringing on more team members, growing revenue, and those sort of things, but how does one become an effective leader?

There are several elements you need when developing the necessary leadership skills to improve yourself and pass on to your team members. The empathy piece is so important because as care providers, we don’t have the luxury of completely separating personal issues from work. There will be times when you need to help guide an employee or team member through some hard times so that they can thrive in the company and still provide top notch care.
