This is a Closer Look at Tom Dittmer. He was a farm boy from a small-town in Iowa who went on to serve in the ‘US Army’s prestigious 3rd Infantry Old Guard and as a White House aide under Lyndon Johnson. In 1969, he co-founded what was to become one of the largest commodities trading firms in the world, Refco, with his father, Ray Friedman. In 2006 he was inducted into the Futures Industry Association Futures Hall of Fame. Tom Dittmer joins former SEC chairman Arthur Levitt to talk about his life and a book he has written, which is a rollicking personal memoir of his remarkable life called, “Talkin’ Big.”
