Belonging To God – Episode 312

If you are feeling down today, feeling that no one cares or that God does not hear you, feeling that you are being ignored, or that everything you planned and hoped for has fallen apart, then this podcast will turn that around. Writing and recording this podcast has helped me tremendously after a very trying week. And it started today. I heard a scripture that really touched me, and the more I thought about it, the more I realized I belong to God. No, really, I. Belong. To God.

This isn’t a novel idea or truth. You probably think that as a Christian who has professed a belief in Jesus Christ, it is a simplistic statement to make. And you may be correct. Yet, we walk around carrying the burdens of the world on our shoulders, and if we remembered that we belong to God, how much easier this load would be. The scripture I want to share is one I’ve heard so many times, but this time, it made me feel special. We don’t often walk around, and the truth is, we never walk around saying how special we are or how special we feel. It is not the way of humility, right? But God, in His Word, often makes us feel special. I pray that God opens your heart and shows you how special you really are in His eyes!

It is a passage in Ezekiel. I want to read it to you, but I’d like you to read it yourself, perhaps later, and meditate on the words. Ezekiel 36:26-28 (read on air).

Let me read the last half of the last line again: “You shall be my people, and I will be your God.” Friends, God has called you and asked that you be His people. And, in return, He gives us Himself. That is so shocking, and yet it should not surprise us that the God of the universe cares intimately about you, all of you. He wants you to understand that you have been called by name.

  1. He has called us by name, and we read this in Isaiah 43:1:
  2. He knows the number of hairs on our head: Matthew 10:30:
  3. He has given us everything and paid the ultimate sacrifice: John 3:16:

How does this make you feel? Do you feel special yet? Well, let’s try this, let’s try praising God:

Psalm 147:1-6

How about Exodus 15:2: Read on air.

God is our salvation, and He is our God, and He is deserving of all of my praise. This is the least we can offer our Lord and Savior, yet there is so much more He is willing to give to each of us.

Psalm 63:11 states (read on air)

When we feel like no one cares, please remember this Psalm. God’s constant love is there for us, and if we praise Him, we will remember this truth and how much better our life will become.

Another verse I want to share with you is Psalm 145:9 (read on air). His tender mercies! Listen to those words and let them penetrate your heart.

and the last verse – Isaiah 41:13-

We are not to fear, we belong to the Lord, he has our hand in His, he is there for use, and he will come to your aid, in fact He has never left you and has always been by your side. Dear friends, remember these words, cherish them, and know that God is real and you belong to him.
