He has admirably upheld and advanced his family's legacy, adding his own contemporary flair to the traditional art form. Waqas's sitar playing is characterized by a harmonious blend of Eastern classical music with Western musical elements, creating a unique and captivating sound.
Waqas’s talent extends beyond solo performances. He is a key founding member of the Sufi-fusion group, Sounds of Kolachi, and has contributed his sitar prowess as a guest artist with groups like The D/A Method and Cosmic Fluid, as well as in the Coke Studio Sessions. Presently, Waqas is a vital part of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s live touring ensemble, showcasing his skill on an international stage.
