"YOU ADULTEROUS PEOPLE!" In James 4:4, he is not just calling us adulterous to insult us. He is calling us out to get our attention with THE TRUTH!! The whole point is to remind us that disobedience, or rebellion, towards God is more than just little "white" sin. It is you being a hostile enemy of God's.
