In episode 141 UNP founder and curator Grant Scott is in his shed considering whether your most recent work is your best work, the importance of childhood experiences within creative practice and what shape a camera has to be for it to be called a camera! Plus this week photographer Buku Sarkar takes on the challenge of supplying Grant with an audio file no longer than 5 minutes in length in which she answer’s the question ‘What Does Photography Mean to You?’ Buku Sarkar is a photographer and writer who grew-up between Calcutta and New York whose photographic work is centred on the Park Circus Basti, the largest Muslim Slum in Calcutta. Sarkar writes mainly fiction although her first screenplay was due to go into production in 2020 and both her writing and her photographs have appeared in various magazines and journals. She lives between Calcutta and New York with her Ridgeback Julius and cat Izme and her photographs have appeared in Documentum Journal issue 1, guest edited by Stephen Shore, the NYT Lens Blog and the Huffington Post.
