From humble farming beginnings, Roger Burton’s career took him from selling antiques and clothes at Leicester Market, to one of the leading voices on the UK fashion scene. He had a huge role in the styling of early MTV videos and movies like Quadrophenia and Hackers, and is also the driving force behind the restoration of The Horse Hospital complex in Central London, where his huge clothes archive is currently housed. We discuss why Levis 501s are still one of the world's great icons and why fashion today is generally so blancmange and utterly lacking in shock, attitude or rebellion.
