Colombian swimmer Carlos Serrano discusses the importance of motivation, passion and purpose in the latest episode of A Winning Mindset: Lessons From The Paralympics.
Serrano, who won three Paralympic medals at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, joined Andy Stevenson to speak about his life outside the pool and the key drivers behind his career so far.
“I feel a responsibility of making all people of short stature proud” Serrano says. “I do intend to support sports in anyway possible, I’d like to continue providing motivation to disabled people, so they can work hard and improve.”
Serrano, who was born with achondroplasia, also spoke with pride about being a father and how his daughter has changed him for the better since her birth at the beginning of 2020.
“She makes me very happy; I am very proud of her, I love seeing her grow up. Sara Luna gives me motivation to compete harder and to win more races. I want her to see me as someone who aimed high and was able to achieve his goals.”
Serrano who is preparing for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, also reflects on the importance of his mother and how he sees his future progressing.
