This week Colleen sits down with a dear friend and his friend to talk about incarceration, rehabilitation post-incarceration and the employment and mentoring of the formerly incarcerated. Ricky Staub launched Neighborhood Film Co from a homeless shelter in Philadelphia with a mission to mentor and employ men returning home from prison. Marvin is a former apprentice of this program. In the conversation they talk about what led Ricky to this kind of work, the nuts and bolts of the program and we hear from Marvin about how his involvement as an apprentice changed his life and why we should care about this kind of work.

Find out more about Neighborhood Film Co and the apprenticeship program on their website. Colleen highly encourages you to listen to Ricky’s TED talk and read Marvin’s article about his experience (which was featured in Variety and Rolling Stone!) You can follow Neighborhood Film Co. on Facebook and Instagram.
