The Beatitudes are a list of nine blessings that Jesus gave in the Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew. "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted." These nine blessings reflect the character and attitude of those whom God favors. The meek, those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, the merciful, the pure in heart, are given a special blessing. Then Jesus added the peacemakers. These are people who have a character and attitude of peace, but who also actively work to bring peace where there is war and conflict. Jesus says that these people will be called the Sons of God. As a nation, does the United States have the character and attitude that Jesus lists in the Beatitudes? Are we peacemakers, or do we make war and create conflict in the world? Join the conversation and get answers to this question and more on According2Sam episode #207.
