In this episode of The Source, we speak with historian, journalist, and author Vijay Prashad about the latest developments in world politics. We begin the interview by discussing the significance of German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock's recent remarks calling Chinese President Xi Jinping a "dictator." We then shed light on the war in Ukraine and how international politics is positioning itself on the issue. We also look at recent international developments, such as the August 2023 BRICS summit and the recent coups in West and Central Africa, and put them in context. Finally, we assess whether the United States' war on terror, declared after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, has made the world a safer and more democratic place 22 years later.
