Manage episode 444599717 series 3578215
On today’s episode, we’re honoured to be joined by Mark Hughes, a man whose journey through one of life’s toughest battles has turned him into a source of strength and hope for many. Mark’s story begins in 2013, when a few days of severe headaches led him to seek medical advice, only to discover something no one could have predicted—a brain tumour. A series of scans and tests confirmed the diagnosis: a Grade 3 Oligoastrocytoma, a high-grade brain tumour that would require immediate surgery, followed by months of chemotherapy and radiation.
Mark faced this life-altering news with courage and determination. His recovery wasn’t easy—surgery brought its own challenges, from double vision to hallucinations—but through it all, he remained resilient. With the support of his family, friends, and the wider community, Mark embraced the fight of his life. He underwent 33 radiation sessions and six months of chemotherapy, all while holding onto a positive mindset and a newfound perspective on life.
Today, Mark is cancer-free, and his journey has ignited a passion to give back. Through his foundation, the Mark Hughes Foundation, he has dedicated himself to raising awareness for brain cancer and providing much-needed support to others facing similar battles. Mark’s story is one of acceptance, strength, and living fully in the present—a reminder to never take a single day for granted.
