A 1000 year tradition could come to an end this summer on a Westcountry estuary.

Documents show that people have been seine-netting for salmon on the Exe for at least ten centuries, but now the last three boats licensed to catch the fish with nets on the river are being told they must take a ten year break after August.

Martin joins one of the crews as they set out to catch the elusive salmon along the estuary’s mudbanks.
