At the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly, African leaders have been clear they want a seat at the global table, especially considering the continent's ascendance. General Michael Langley, the head of the U.S. Africa Command, discusses growing security concerns in the Horn of Africa amid growing tensions in the region and a coming pullout of troops with the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia at the end of the year. When Americans vote in November, their choice between the Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and the Republican candidate Donald Trump will have ramifications for the world, but neither candidate has offered detailed foreign policy proposals.
