Mozambique is at one of its most critical moments since the end of the civil war in 1992. The government has borrowed massively both internationally and domestically, and this includes three secret loans amounting to $2bn between 2013 and 2014. This has led to several major donors, like IMF and the World Bank, suspending aid, while the government is unable to repay the loans. This scandal has seriously damaged Mozambique's economy, which was already affected by the collapse in commodity prices. How did this happen? What is the situation in the country now?
