Professor Wei-Jen Lee at the Generation Atomic booth 45with Pratik Lokhande and i had a long discussion.

We touched on SMRs, safety, security and regulations for new builds.

He brought a very interesting twist on the idea of ownership of the power infrastructure by the local community.

Lokhande also talked about how the fusion reactor is still far fetched saying the plasma can only be sustained about 1 minute for now within the available magnet 🧲

  • Micro grid for rural electrification was discussed while specifying that the ring configuration ensures greater grid reliability
  • Professor Wei-Jen understands and expresses the limitations of the available and emerging grid technology but emphasizes that an egalitarian society that takes responsibility for her infrastructures with the community building their economy around such facilities
  • On the recent visit and declaration of the US President, Prof also said, the most impact of the several billions of dollars to be given to Africa amongst others will be felt when there is appropriate localization of businesses otherwise, it will still be another aid that leaves Africa needing more.
