Some 20 years after the murder of Sakia Gunn, another anti-LGBTQ+ hate crime killing makes national headlines. As yet another grieving community fights to raise awareness for social justice, we ask: What do we as a nation owe to Sakia Gunn, O'Shae Sibley, and the scores of Black queer youth for whom personal safety is a matter of daily concern?

This is the fifth and final episode of "After Broad and Market," a co-production of LWC Studios and Chasing the Dream, a public media initiative from The WNET Group.

Chasing the Dream: Poverty and Opportunity in America is a multiplatform public media initiative from The WNET Group in New York reporting on poverty, justice, and economic opportunity, and showcasing promising solutions. The initiative's goal is to better inform using facts that go beyond personal biases, media narratives, and presumptions about the American Dream.

Major funding for Chasing the Dream is provided by The JPB Foundation with additional funding from Sue and Edgar Wachenheim III.
