I talk about how the protests right now going on all over The United States (and around the world) and how the end result of them needs to be comprehensive reform in three different areas: first, police reform in the sense of redistribution of funds to focus on demilitarization and an emphasis on mental health. Second, a complete reform of the Justice system to overhaul how we treat criminals, get rid of for profit jails, and turn away from minimum mandatory sentencing. Third, a refocus on the education system in order to ensure that class sizes stay low and that “teaching to the test” stops being the way we do things. It will require a tremendous effort but if all three of these reforms could be effected it would change the country radically for the better. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/afterschoolhistory/message
