Dr. Mark Michalski, Director of the BWH/MGH Center for Clinical Data Science talks about what they do. Use of machine learning to interpret slides, identify signals in data. About 70% of the applications are focused on diagnostics, and the remainder focus on operations, population health, and identifying new drugs. They do research and translate that so it can be applied in clinical practice. They have strategic partnerships with Nvidia, GE, and several others in academics and in industry.

Most exciting projects? Machine learning model for stenosis of the back; using machine learning to make MRIs go much faster; speeding up hospital operations.

He was a radiologist, so how did he become interested in AI/machine learning?

What will be the ramifications of AI?

How will docs handle improved technology? Will it add to their workload?

What do you predict for the future? Will AI take jobs?
