Oh my gosh—when I make a million dollars, I’m going to be, I’m going to feel secure; I’m going to feel like I’ve finally made it, you know? No, No- when I find that perfect person…then I’ll really feel happy, you know? No, but when I lose that 5 pounds, you know that 5 pounds you just can’t get rid of? I’ll love my body then…I’ll totally love my body then. GUYS! We base our happiness on this future someday that doesn’t exist. It’s like our happiness is on layaway….what’s that about? Meanwhile, we’re standing in a present moment that, 5 years ago, we said would make us happy; but yet we’re looking ahead and saying THAT will make us happy. So will we ever truly be satisfied? Think about it, as kids we can’t wait to be teenagers, as teenagers: “Oh my gosh…I can’t WAIT to be an adult!” As an adult: “I can’t wait for the perfect job, the perfect spouse, the perfect paycheck, the perfect house.” And THEN I get all of that and I’m like: “uhhhhh I just can’t wait to get rid of this job and retire, and THEN I’ll finally happy, be able to travel, see the world, do all those things.” And then we get to retirement and we’re like: “wait….what? What just happened? My life is back there, and I’ve been looking over there the whole time; and I’m here now and I’m like…what just happened?” It’s a SHAM people! I’m not saying that being able to plan for the future is a bad thing. It’s a tremendous thing and hold so much value for us, it gives us direction because we can look ahead and pave a path. But there’s no point in planning a future, that when we get to it we won’t even be mentally present to it because we’ll be in some OTHER fantasy future that doesn’t exist yet. This is a pattern that keeps playing out in our lives. We say, “SOMEDAY is when it’ll all be better.” But your SOMEDAY is NOW. NOW is your time to feel love. NOW is your time to feel excitement. NOW is your time to feel bliss and joy and abundance and gratitude. NOW. The future doesn’t exist- NOW exists and this is all we can bank on. So, why are we waiting for this “someday” when we have NOW to play with? We’re reading the book of our lives, right? And there’s a chapter that’s unfolding right in front of us to read, but we’re flipping to the very end to try and catch what’s going to happen there when there’s this beautiful story happening right in front of us. Guys, don’t miss the story of your life! IT IS NOW…there is no someday. Don’t bank on happiness in the future—CHOOSE NOW. Choose it NOW…and NOW…and NOW…and NOW.
