This year, Lia Thomas won the NCAA women's swimming 500-yard freestyle to become the first openly transgender athlete to win an NCAA Division I national championship, in any sport. While Lia adhered by all the necessary NCAA requirements to participate in the women's bracket (including testosterone suppression), her success to date has come under scrutiny, further augmented by the fact that her victory saw her finishing ahead of Olympic silver medalist Emma Weyant (by 1.75 seconds!!).

This week on All About Sports, we cover the concerns raised by athletes and viewers regarding the participation of transgender athletes in women's sports. Is there sufficient evidence to suggest a clear advantage or is a single case of success skewing public perception? Is there a need to a change how sports are grouped by gender to more appropriately account for transgender athletes?

In addition, we discuss the future of a swath of other women's sports, including cricket, football, UFC and WNBA! Which sports have done a great job in promoting their female athletes? How to change people's mindsets on sports where viewership is skewed towards male athletes? How has viewership for women's sports evolved in recent years?
