Ace Gapuz is the CEO of Blogapalooza, a Filipino influencer marketing company that fosters collaborations between creators and brand. Ace started blogging at a young age and joined Southeast Asian startup Grab as Public Relations Manager when the company first launched in the Philippines. In addition to her work at Blogapalooza, Ace also serves as the Director of Shopertainment Live, a marketing agency that specializes in live-streaming e-commerce campaigns.

In this episode, Ace highlights the growth of influencer marketing in the Philippines and how it differs from other parts of Southeast Asia. She explains how the high concentration of English speakers allows Filipino influencers to attract a global audience and monetize at a higher rate than local language (Tagalog) content creators. We also discuss how Facebook has become Filipinos’ primary source of news and why the country has become a major battleground for YouTube and Facebook in the region. Finally, Ace argues that the biggest revenue opportunity for social media is not advertising and branded content but rather e-commerce and direct-to-fan monetization.
