Jill Paiz-Bourque is the Founder & CEO of RushTix, an online platform for interactive comedy live streams. A long-time improvisor, stand-up comedian, and producer, Jill created the international hit improv show How We First Met and produces the annual stand-up and music show Not Your Normal New Year’s Eve. She started her career in public relations, then transitioned to a full-time producer and performer before launching RushTix in March 2015.

In this episode, Jill explains how she pivoted her business this year amidst the Covid-19 pandemic. RushTix started as a subscription event membership for local arts and cultural events, so when live events were no longer practical, Jill refocused the company on live streaming interactive comedy shows. She encourages people to think of live streaming as an audience engagement tool and shares how RushTix decides when to host streams via social platforms like Twitch, Facebook, and Instagram versus creating private streams on its site. Finally, we discuss technical improvements like super low latency that are improving user experience and offer a few predictions for the future of live streaming.

Host: James Creech
