Karen manages the ‘green spaces’ owned by Walton Charity which includes 4 allotment sites, a community allotment project, woodlands, and the gardens of their 2 sheltered housing properties. It has been 5 years since Karen started the community allotment project, turning a wild unkempt area of Walton Charity’s largest allotment site into a haven for local people to enjoy the benefits of volunteering for their mental and physical wellbeing. In addition to learning to grow fruit and vegetables, Karen runs sessions to encourage people to cook with the vegetables they have grown and try new things. www.waltoncharity.org.uk
