In 2000, he received his Master's degree as a North-South dialogue scholarship holder after completing a joint study programme at the "Institute for Water Education" in Delft, the Netherlands, and the Institute for Limnology in Mondsee/Salzburg. He remained faithful to fresh water research, although this topic was not his first choice when he commenced his studies. He completed his PhD at the Vienna University of Technology. This was the beginning of his career, which, as it continued, presented him with a variety of occupations, some of them even to his own surprise. Today, he is a leading expert in the organization Sustainable Energy for All.
