There's more to life than a general on your morning news. Burkina Faso, a country that doesn't make headlines, has been in the news lately as the Presidential Security Regiment orchestrated a coup, then were required to step down. (Its leader, Gilbert Diendere, is believed to be in custody.)

But rather than just focus on that, global traveler Francis Tapon joins the podcast to talk about, well, everything else: Burkina Faso's culture, history, neighborly relations, postcolonial legacies, and what it's like to live and travel the West African region.

(Of course, this being Ambassadors at Large, Joe has to shoehorn in politics and regional dynamics anyway. He can't help himself.)

We also talk about whether humanity is getting less violent, and whether the dodo should be brought back Jurassic Park-style.
