Ingrid Silva is a prominent professional ballerina, activist, and writer, widely recognized for her contributions to the world of dance. Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, she commenced her ballet training at a social project in the Mangara slum at the age of eight. Overcoming numerous challenges, Ingrid achieved the esteemed position of principal dancer at the Dance Theater of Harlem, where her hand-painted point shoes were prominently displayed at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. As a co-founder of Blacks in Ballet, she actively advocates for diversity and representation in the ballet industry.
