Australia won by 277 runs. England was playing Australia for the defense of the Ashes title, after the 2005 euphoria. England captain Andrew Flintoff lost the toss and Australia batted first on a true and bouncy Gabba strip. The match is often remembered for the wayward loosener from the England fast bowler Steven Harmison.
