Procrastination. Almost everyone procrastinates. You may think you don't but procrastination comes disguised in many forms.

Procrastination could look like lacking motivation or could be scheduling less important tasks ahead of important long term goals.

No matter how you chop up your description of procrastination one thing is certain. If you are not achieving your goals you are procrastinating.

In this podcast we’ll explore why we procrastinate, what advantages procrastination brings, how to utilise procrastination to your advantage and finally how to overcome procrastination if you find it’s stopping you from achieving your goals.

What is procrastination?

Why do we procrastinate?

Procrastination has a purpose.

Stop you from making another mistake, prevent you from some pain. That you associate more pain with achieving your goal or more pain with starting your goal.

Your procrastination activities give you comfort. You actually receive pleasure from your procrastination activities you

Why do we achieve goals and What do we get when we achieve our goals?

Avoid pain, attain pleasure. Mostly avoid pain. Dopamine release.

Setting up your goal to avoid procrastination:

1. Desirable goal and small next step

2. Create negative feeling to comport from procrastination

Investigate what is stopping you?

Starting exercise, speaking to a relative, facing a difficult issue… pleasure and pain.

Set up for success: Other areas to optimise goal achievement and reducing procrastination.

Time of day - Cortisol, domaine, adrenaline. Cycles of focus. Fatigue, sleep wake, overall health. Breathing.
