In this episode, I sit down with Dave Klaus who is a Life Coach, Consultant, Zen Priest, Facilitator, and former Criminal Trial Laywer with the Alameda County Public Defender. We explore his own journey breaking out of the patriarchal systems that often define manhood for so many and into a more heart-centered, vulnerable way of being and relating in the world.
Dave shares his own journey and how it has led to his work helping other men through various modalities, including the Mankind Project and The Freedom Within Project (which is a nonprofit working to reduce recidivism and change the culture inside prisons and jails through self-awareness and emotional literacy).
We talk about the power of emotional literacy, and the transformational experience that sharing and healing in community can offer. And dive into the common themes that many men face in our society today including isolation/loneliness, the struggles with navigating friendship and relationships, shame, and healing from trauma. Plus, the many ways men can explore growth, healing, integrity, joy, self-love, and so much more through intentional men's work.
